For three months, I consistently applied Porcelana's nighttime formula before bed and applied Porcelana's daytime formula, with the additional important ingredient of sunscreen, in the morning. Using both formulas, one jar of each lasted me exactly three months. Overall, I am very pleased with the final results. Most of my smaller age spots have faded or are gone but I do have darker spots that persist. They will require the use of a prescription strength formula of Hydroquinone or laser treatments but due to the overall reduction that has occurred, I know those possible next steps will be less extensive.
I also found the daytime formula left a nice base to apply make-up on to and my complexion actually seemed to clear up while using it.
I was very pleased with the results overall...and the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Porcelana Night Cream, August 25, 2010
This review is from: Porcelana Skin Lightening Cream, Fade Dark Spots, Nighttime Treatment, 3 oz. (Misc.)
I decided to buy this cream because I had some dark spots on my stomach that showed up after some sun damage. They were embarressing, and because I am so pale, they just seemed so dark and obvious. I bought the night cream at a pharmacy because I happened to see it was on sale for $5. So I figured, why not give it a shot? Today is Wednesday, 8/25/10. I purchased the cream Saturday, 8/21/10, and used it every night since. This morning when I woke up, I happened to glance in the mirror and was shocked at what I saw. The marks are barely visible! Again, this was only after 4 nights. While it was recommended to use the day cream also, I did not, I only used the night cream. I did not expect such results so soon, especially since the bottle said "if you see no difference in three months, stop using." So I was expecting at least a month before seeing results. I am totally blown away! Right now I am scouring the internet to find a website or email for them, just to write and tell them how pleased I am, but so far I have been unsuccessful in finding one. When I go home tonight, perhaps I will look on the bottle for a phone number I can call.

The only thing I am wondering at this point is if I will have to use this continually even after the spots disappear. We shall see. I highly recommend this.

A doctor recommended hydroquinone for my melasma--hormonal darkening usually caused by pregnancy, but mine just never went away after my kids were born. I know hydroquinone works for me; I used to use a product from Bath and Body works that had hydroquinone as its only active ingredient. They discontinued it, and for 4 years since I've been trying all kinds of brands and have been getting rashes. I have super sensitive skin and can get rashy just from using soap or from visiting another state where they have a different form of water treatment. I tell you... if a product can irritate, I will be the one it will irritate. I have applied Porcelana night cream 3 times, and already my brown spots are ever so slightly lighter, and there is no reddening!!!! That is amazing. I will use the night cream with my own sunblock during the day, because I read the ingredients in the day cream, and I know their sunblock ingredient would be a problem for me. I am happy with the night cream.

5.0 out of 5 stars night cream porcelana, November 22, 2010
This review is from: Porcelana Skin Lightening Cream, Fade Dark Spots, Nighttime Treatment, 3 oz. (Misc.)
I bought this product at walgreens a couple of weeks ago. I am black with sensitive skin and this product is great. I use the night cream because sunscreen breaks me out. I use it on my legs, arms and neck; my skin is starting to even out. I've tried other products that cost $135 but broke out and really didn't see a difference. This is a great buy for a fraction of the cost.

4.0 out of 5 stars Prefer night cream to day cream, November 14, 2010

This review is from: Porcelana Skin Lightening Cream, Fade Dark Spots, Nighttime Treatment, 3 oz. (Misc.)
After about 6 weeks of use -- primarily twice per day -- I noticed about a 50% reduction in the melasma I had appear above my lip (sigh.) This happened long after I'd given birth, and after ten years of birth control use, so it was quite a surprise. Anyway, I opted to get the night version because it has an additional ingredient -- avocado oil -- that the day cream does not have. And since I apply sunscreen anyhow, I use the night cream both in the morning and at night. I don't imagine there's a more affordable 'experiment' to try in attempts to remove unsightly spots, so I definitely recommend this as an inexpensive try before seeing a dermatologist. I agree that the cream is greasy-ish, but I'm not sure why people are complaining about that. It has a bleaching ingredient in it, so you shouldn't be using it unless you cry when you look at yourself in the morning and realize that after 25 years, your face is no longer the same by no fault of your own. So, I don't really give a hoot how the cream feels or looks. It's got nasty ingredients in it that potentially lighten embarrassing marks -- it did mine, and I don't care if the cream is stinky or not or how it absorbs. I wish I only had acne and sun spots to worry about -- yup, have those too -- so those that have argued about its feel might not really need to use such a product. Big deal. A tangent -- just try it if you have facial melasma. Mine's not totally disappeared, but it's lessened to the point that foundation works to cover it up now. Good product.

This product is banned for use in Europe which should tell us something. It's up to each individual to keep themselves informed and safe. See below paragraphs taken from wikipedia. I suggest reading the website campaign for safe cosmetics and educating yourself before buying this product.

"In 2006, the United States Food and Drug Administration revoked its previous approval of hydroquinone and proposed a ban on all over-the-counter preparations.[4] The FDA stated that hydroquinone cannot be ruled out as a potential carcinogen. This conclusion was reached based on the extent of absorption in humans and the incidence of neoplasms in rats in several studies where adult rats were found to have increased rates of tumours, including thyroid follicular cell hyperplasias, anisokaryosis, mononuclear cell leukemia, hepatocellular adenomas and renal tubule cell adenomas. The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics has also highlighted concerns.[5]

Numerous studies have revealed that hydroquinone can cause exogenous ochronosis, a disfiguring disease in which blue-black pigments are deposited onto the skin, if taken orally; however, skin preparations containing the ingredient are administered topically. The FDA has classified hydroquinone currently as a safe product, as currently used.[4][6]"

I had been buying an expensive cream for reducing brown splothces on my hands, but the pharmacy closed and I decided to try Porcelana from Rite Aid. Every bit as good and much less expensive. A lucky find.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works for me! But... may need to back off now and then., December 31, 2010
This review is from: Porcelana Skin Lightening Cream, Fade Dark Spots, Nighttime Treatment, 3 oz. (Misc.)
I've used it for about two weeks and the age/liver spots on my face have lightened. I had two on the left and one lighter spot on the right side. The spot on the right side is very light now and much less visible. The spots on the left have lightened. My skin became irritated after about 1.5 weeks of consistent nightly use of the product followed by stiff terry-cloth scrubbing with Nivea "Cool" body/hair wash. My wife said it looked like I had a burn on my face so I eased up on the skin cream and stopped scrubbing so hard with the terry cloth. After a day my skin was back to about normal with maybe some light peeling in the area where I used the cream. I stopped use for a few days and my skin feels fine and the spots seem lighter and lighter so I will continue use as I feel comfortable. If it weren't for the skin irritation (which may be my own fault for scrubbing too hard with the terry-cloth/body wash) I'd give 5-stars. All in all I'm satisfied and will continue use over the next 8-10 weeks. I'm very happy with the results in the first two weeks of near-nightly use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, makes my skin looks lighter!, April 6, 2011
This review is from: Porcelana Skin Lightening Cream, Fade Dark Spots, Nighttime Treatment, 3 oz. (Misc.)
I saw improvements in my skin withing 1 month! The acne scars disappeared and my skin looks lighter and glowing!. I been using Porcelana night cream for over 7 months now. It also helps my dry skin to stay hydrated (before using procelana my face was very dry, specially in the mornings and winter) and I haven't had a break out since 6 months! It is amazing! I love it!!
I also tried using porcelana day cream, but it doesn't work as well as the night time.

I have used this product for years and always got it at my local walmart. They stopped carrying it and I was so glad when I found it on Amazon. This seller gets it to you quickly and the price is great. I live in California and get a lot of sun just driveing home from work so this product not only bleaches the existing age spots but also is a sunscreen. Never let a day go by without using it and at my age a lot of people do not know how old I really am.
