Along with artists such as Chuck Prophet and Joe Henry, Tim Easton has gone from a decent but somewhat pedestrian songwriter to a first class songsmith that
brings his soul to the proceedings. The album Break Your Mother's Heart was the first of his works that I bought, I don't listen to it much. Ammunition, his next album was a giant step forward in terms of...

Ammunition, his next album was a giant step forward in terms of songwriting, more folky than the former with some first rate tunes. Porcupine continues his ascent toward songwriting greatness.
Burgundy Red, the first song on Porcupine, is a statement of intent-it rocks your
sox off as do the songs Porcupine and Get What I Got. Baltimore and Stormy are both
lusty and soulful. Northbound starts out like classic John Fogerty and will stick in your brain.
If you like top-notch folk/roots rock this guy is the most improved player and this
album won't let you down- did I say he has a great weather-worn voice?

My feelings are of an acoustical intonated overload. Beautiful timing and long melodies persist throughout. The necessity to hear this music again seems to be unclear, but wanting. This music is made for headphones or the automobile. The poetry is made for the intellect, but still accessible on a warm morning when you are driving to work. Porcupine is one of the most sincere musical cycles I have heard in years. That's refreshing! Give yourself a pleasant treat, buy it now and listen!

I loved the Black Dog album. I bought this album because of how much I enjoyed Black Dog. This was the last Time Easton album I will waste my time on. It's on the shelf now at Goodwill.
