I read this book because I saw it recommended in Zink Magazine and on a couple blogs. Don't usually read relationship or humor books, but this was a great, fun read that is more like a novel than a non-fiction book. And, best of all, it gets us women into the minds of men, men into the minds of women, and provides free sex tips that are cheap and easy.

I picked up this book for the fascinating facts on the industry, and was surprised to be drawn into the narrative as well. Learned some useful relationship tips for sure.

I really loved this book, it was funny and informative at the same time. Although you can tell some of the stories are sensationalized for the sake of the book, it is still very realistic and I really enjoyed it. It was amusing reading this in public places where everyone could see the title -- and I laughed out loud at several parts. I definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys learning from others' experiences.

This book was not what I thought it would be. Billed as a "Good Girl's Guide to Porn," I expected more of a light-hearted yet somewhat clinical overview of the types of porn available, people involved in porn, etc. Instead this book reads more like a memoir, and chronicles the author's quest to get over being "pornophobic" by checking off items from a list of things to do which include meet a porn star, try a vibrator, and attend a sex toy party.

Interspersed with her accounts of these experiences are tales of her and her knitting group's attempts to find love. Some sections, especially those concerning the author's mother, are LOL funny.

Pornology is a breezy intro to its subject, meaning it is very light and not very in depth. If you looking to this book for in depth product descriptions you will be disappointed. As a memoir however this book is a lot of fun.

A fun and fast read with a character that is totally relatable. I would recommend this to my single girlfriends! Definitely for those that liked Bridget Jones, Confession of a Shopoholic and the like.

I was so surprised by this book. It was very real, (as it turned out, autobiographical) filled with real information and real teachers, real toys, real searching for information on "what is porn?" As someone who sells sex toys for a living at home parties, I did not know if I would get much out of this book, but I loved it on so many levels, including educational and entertainment.

The author creates a list of things to do to learn about porn to prove to her boyfriend at the time that she is not porno-phobic. Instead she dumps the boyfriend and learns about her self, her sensual self. The information is accurate and exciting to have at your fingertips. I just wanted more from her.

The detailed information in the resources list at the back is my new best friend, taking me on further journeys.

If you would like to know more about things sexual, don't hesitate to purchase this book and learn as the author learned, by trying it!

I found "Pornology" to be a very enjoyable read. I just finished Brian Alexander's "America Unzipped" which is another book in the I'm-a-sexually-naive-author-and-want-to-find-out-more-about-sex genre. While I enjoyed both Carrillo-Gailey's and Alexander's writing styles, I'll give the nod to Carillo. It was refreshing to see a self-described prude make the journey out of her mundane world and venture out to experience sexual situations she never would have dreamed of - and in the end, she developed an appreciation for those things, as opposed to condemning them.

If you've already been to sex and toy parties, been to a topless bar, watch porn, read everything by Violet Blue, and Sadie Allison, or Tristan Taormino, I'm afraid you won't learn anything new or shocking, but Carrillo's stories about her family, relationships, and friends should make you laugh and possibly, you'll find yourself feeling bad for people who won't let go of their prudery.

I had high hopes for this book, and it didn't disappoint! Funny, quirky, with a strong voice coming through, and even a happy ending, it really made for a fun, quick read (I finished it in one sitting) that had me laughing out loud.

Mind you, it occasionally is a little too "precious"- it sometimes reads a little bit like "Sex in the City" and other chick-lit horrors (gushing about sex with my gal pals and having drinks, oh yes!), and it takes away some of the magic of the story to hear that, while true, it was also "slightly elaborated" with dramatic license. Hence the way everything works out perfectly- not a single thread left untied, and even a Hollywood movie ending that would charm fans of rom-coms everywhere.

But if you take it lightly- as the cute fluff that it is- it is a very enjoyable read and one that actually sheds a lot of light on how porn/erotica can be empowering for women (and moreover, how doing the unconventional and challenging yourself can lead to wonderful things). Very sex-positive, and yes, funny, too.

This book is wonderfully witty and had me laughing out loud in several parts! A fast, fun read - I couldn't put it down! A great book to share with your girlfriends!

This book is for all types!!! If your a prude, U might start to think differently... If your a degenerate, lend the book to your prude friend that keeps telling you that!!! It's a great read, i def. recommend it!!
