4.0 out of 5 stars Defines the current state of the art for pervious surfaces, May 25, 2007

This review is from: Porous Pavements (Integrative Studies in Water Management & Land Deve) (Hardcover)
Bruce Ferguson does a good job of quantifying the current state of the art of pervious surfaces development. This is a largely anecdotal study of current installations, and collection of data from many discrete sources. At $140+, this isn't a bedside reading book, but a necessary addition to your technical library for engineers, stormwater managers, and landscape architects.

This review is from: Porous Pavements (Integrative Studies in Water Management & Land Deve) (Hardcover)
This is the first and only definitive, complete treatment of the subject I have been able to find, written in understandable, useful terms.

This review is from: Porous Pavements (Integrative Studies in Water Management & Land Deve) (Hardcover)
This book is a terrific resource for Low-Impact Development advocates and engineers. The book addresses the typical concerns that agencies, developers, and contractors have with using porous pavement on a project: costs too much, too difficult to maintain, "fails", etc. There are detailed specifications and recommendations for design, and plenty of examples of constructed porous pavements. The examples are very valuable because they provide some lessons learned for future design. The book also covers hydrology and the water-quality benefits of porous pavements.

I would recommend this book to civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, contractors, and anyone who needs published material in support of using porous pavement construction on their next project.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive book on all aspects of porous pavement, January 11, 2009

This review is from: Porous Pavements (Integrative Studies in Water Management & Land Deve) (Hardcover)
A very comprehensive book on the many aspects of porous pavement. It is very easy to read and includes numerous real world cases. It is not so much a design book with formulas as much as a general reference book.
