About the Author

Jutta Deiss, born in 1956, adopts a subtle strategy when she is tracking down interesting stories - both as a freelance journalist and as the creative general manager of the Stuttgart-based Head-Line company.  Her work appears mostly in magazines and books.  She makes no secret of her affinity with Porsche or of the pleasure it gave her to follow the development history of the Cayman.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful, informative book., October 14, 2005

The pictures are absolutely beautiful! The new 997 Porsche 911 is a gorgeous car and the rich, full page color photos in this book really do it justice in my opinion. It also discusses a brief history of the 911 including the car's numerous motorsports achievements. One of the most interesting sections is the explanation of how each car is built and assembled by hand at the factory in Germany. Porsche's attention to detail is incredible! A great book for any auto enthusiast, especially a Porsche lover (like me).

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable book, August 6, 2005

This is a very through overview of the development of the 997 variant of the 911. Great photography, very thoughtful writing, and some good historical background make this an enjoyable book to browse. The format makes it a nice coffee table book and a little awkward to read. There are more books about the various generations of the 911 than I care to count so this has a lot of competition but overall it is worth owning. I would also recommend Paul Frere's "Porsche 911 Story" for more history and technical details but I don't think it has been updated for the 997 yet.

This book is just fantastic. It is a great coffee table book, with wonderful illustrations. The book mainly covers the development of the 997.1 Porsche 911 - every thing from clay models, 3D models, development testing and through the production. It also provides a brief into the Porsche's history of making great sports and racing cars. A must own for any Porsche fan.
