Misleading Title, February 19, 2001
This review is from: Porsche 911: Model by Model (Hardcover)
This book is NOT a model-by-model look at the 911, as the title claims. It is a book about the people the author wants to impress us with his knowing, and the Porsches they own. As in, "Once owned by Led Zeppelin's manager. . . "(p. 111) or, "Matt Butler is a record producer. . .[who] has worked with Sir Paul McCartney. . .(p. 125).
There are no helpful charts and no examination of the changes in the 911 over the years. But there are whole sections on the 914, the 924, the 928, and the Boxster, having nothing to do with the 911. Of course, there are lots of color photos. If you want to look at nice color photos of Porsche racing cars, 924s, 928s, Ferraris (that's right), and the occasional Lotus, this is your book. I'm returning mine; it's useless.
