Book Description

September 1997
Porsche--simply put it is the quintessential sports car, sleek, shiny, sexy, and just plain fast. The striking looks of the car are matched by its superb engineering and performance, making it one of the world's greatest automobiles and a work of art on four wheels. The book tells the story of Porsche, from its creation by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and his son in 1948, through forty-two models up to the 1997 Boxter. The story is rich with incident beyond the factory and the test track, including the years leading up to the development of the first 356 Gmund Roadster. Lucinda Lewis, one of the world's premier automotive photographers, lovingly captures the beauty of the most amazing cars ever built. This oversize volume features more than 225 color and 120 b/w photographs, many of which are full or double-page. It is an ideal book for car lovers, racing enthusiasts, and anyone who admires the very best in modern design and engineering.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Beautiful, January 3, 2000
This review is from: Porsche: Fine Art of the Sports Car (Hardcover)
This is by far the best Porsche photo book I've seen. If you want technical info, get Paul Frere's book, but for stunning Porsche photographs, this book is outstanding. A must for every Porschephile's collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost......., March 22, 2000
This review is from: Porsche: Fine Art of the Sports Car (Hardcover)
The book is VERY large & is mostly beautiful pictures spanning the Porsche history of classics from the earliest models to the Boxster...a little disappointed that: once again, a Porsche book that focuses a little too much on the 911. No 924 anything? & very little to say about the classic 928! However, the pictures are beautiful & there is some great insight into the history of arguably the greatest sports car ever. You will pick this book up for years & reflect on the beauty.

5.0 out of 5 stars The illustrations are wonderful., April 24, 1998

I thought this book is great. It has tons of beautiful color photos and tons of interesting facts. I got a good idea of the history of Porsche. This book also has inside views of a lot of the cars and it had a lot of the technical data about the cars too.
