Definitive title for a mesmerizing car
In the Porsche 356 community, Carreras may be more exotic, but there's no denying it is the Speedster that is the star. The most recognizable by the non-Porschephile, the "bathtub" is the car that first mixed hot-rod lean performance with european engineering and the Southern California lifestyle. Writing from a distinctive european perspective, this coffee...

many things to know about the Speedster, but not only....
The book is filled with pictures, drawings and statistic material. Many pictures of the 356 Speedster. The 911 Speedster doesn't get equal attention. But there's not only information about the Speedster; there's more. This 'more' is in my opinion only of interest for the real Speedster-fan. Pictures of buttons, die-cast modell cars, contemporary cars etcetera take...

This review is from: Porsche Speedster: The Evolution of the Porsche Lightweight Sportster, 1947-94 (Hardcover)

But there's not only information about the Speedster; there's more. This 'more' is in my opinion only of interest for the real Speedster-fan. Pictures of buttons, die-cast modell cars, contemporary cars etcetera take quite some space. For the real Speedster-fans it's probably a 'must have', for others it's 'interesting'.

In the Porsche 356 community, Carreras may be more exotic, but there's no denying it is the Speedster that is the star. The most recognizable by the non-Porschephile, the "bathtub" is the car that first mixed hot-rod lean performance with european engineering and the Southern California lifestyle. Writing from a distinctive european perspective, this coffee table book is full of historic detail, pictures and collectibles that are just not covered in any other book on the Porsche marque. While there is a nod to the other Porsches with the Speedster nameplate (it was revived in the late 80s), there isn't the same depth afforded the early cars. But for those loveable 50s tubs which show up over and over again in film and TV and advertising, this is the definitive work on an unmistakably unique automobile.
