Not quite the ultimate guide.,

This review is from: Porsche: The Ultimate Guide--Everything You Need to Know About Every Porsche Ever Built (Paperback)
This book should really be titled: "Porsche: Another Guide--A Few Things You Might Need to Know About Every Porsche Ever Built." It is probably true that every Porsche is listed, but the details are far far too thin to live up to its title.

A good and complete survey of Porsche car production,

This review is from: Porsche: The Ultimate Guide--Everything You Need to Know About Every Porsche Ever Built (Paperback)
An interesting, fairly complete, well written book on the history of Porsche.
The paper is of good quality, and the vast majority of the photos is in colors. The book tries to entertain the reader without burying him under an avalanche of technical information. In my eyes, it wants to be more a survey of the Porsche production - entertaining to read for the non-initiated, if probably not at all satisfying for the geek - than an authotitative technical bible. Please note that the book is written from an american perspective. For examples, photos are generally of the models sold in the US, etc. The weight and dimension of the book would in my eyes have made a hardcover better suited. All in all a satisfying read. |
