Item #: 880825. The Chameleon S converts RS232 serial data into RGBHV(VGA) video and PS/2 or Sun keyboard output, by creating a VT100 emulation "window". This way a serial port can be administrated with a regular monitor and PS/2 or Sun keyboard. In combination with a KVM switch, headless servers and GUI based computers can be accessed via a single terminal.The Chameleon S provides a space efficient multi-platform console management solution. Any combination of headless devices (UNIX/ Linux servers, LAN/WAN components and management systems etc.) can be managed along with graphical (PC/ NT etc.) servers. The headless devices are connected via the Chameleon Model S with a Lightwave or any brand KVM switch, as are the graphical servers. This way a mixture of headless and graphical devices can be administrated by a single console.The Chameleon S emulates most VT100 terminal commands.
