5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Weather Radio, June 15, 2008
This review is from: Portable Alert Weather Radio with Temperature and Freeze Alert (Electronics)
I live outside Orlando FL and bad weather approaches fast, so I was looking for a good radio. After I received the WR113 Portable Weather Radio I read the manual and had it programmed with the SAME values in about 15 minutes. I used 2 of the 6 SAME positions, entering the values for the areas of home and work. The very next day at work the radio went off announcing severe thunderstorms with hail and 50 mph winds.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some problems......, September 3, 2008

I purchased this radio and it never alarmed after checking and rechecking its settings. I even went so far as to bring it to work where we have a different brand weather radio. It never alarmed even when ours at work alarmed. After consulting with tech support, they agreed it was a bad unit. I returned it and received another. This one worked on Cape Cod and did alarm, however, it does not receive the alarm signal at home or at work. The radio seems to work just fine and is clear but no alarms during tests or actual severe weather. My sense is that it has a problem picking up the alert tone thus does not activate. I give it a three since I think it would be good for others if you receive good reception. I feel it may not receive as well as it should. I also feel my area should receive strong NOAA signals. If you MUST rely on these radios, you might want to consider another model. There might also be an on/off switch to conserve batteries when you are traveling though I guess they feel it should always be on. The red flashing LED is so dim, it's basically a joke. I really wanted this radio to work since it's portable and seems well constructed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice weather radio, February 27, 2009
This review is from: Portable Alert Weather Radio with Temperature and Freeze Alert (Electronics)
This is a very nice weather radio and has pretty good reception. I like that you can program up to 6 counties with SAME codes. It has yet to go off but Storm season in Oklahoma is right around the corner. I needed something to take to work and when traveling that would alert me to bad weather. I also like the alarm clock and freeze warning functions.

About the On Off switch: I have never owned a weather radio that had an on off switch. This would increase the chance of accidently turning the unit off. I leave the unit plugged into the adapter when home and when leaving I always check the battery light. This is one of the best portable weather radios I have seen.
