JWIN SEEMS TO BE A FINE ELECTRONIC COMPANY THAT MAKES GOOD QUALITY AND DURABLE PRODUCTS. THIS LITTLE BOOMBOX CARRIES QUITE A LITTLE PUNCH. MOST BOOMBOXES DO NOT HAVE A WINDOW FOR THE CD AND THE CASSETTE, BUT THIS ONE DOES. YOU CAN SEE THE CD PLAY. IT HAS A LITTLE WINDOW TO SEE THE CASSETTE, WHICH HELPS TO SEE HOW MUCH TAPE HAS BEEN USED, AND HOW MUCH LEFT. THIS IS GOOD ALSO TO SEE IF THE CASSETTE IS WORKING. A LITLE ADDED FEATURE IS A BUILT IN MIC. ONE GREAT FEATURE IS WHEN YOU PLACE THE CD IN THE COMPARTMENT, IT LOCKS IN, LIKE A CD WALKMAN, OR PS ONE. THIS, I FIND HELPS IN LESS SKIPPING, IF YOU WANT TO MOVE, OR CARRY THE BOOMBOX AROUND. THE FM/AM SOUNDS GOOD. RECORDING FROM THE RADIO IS NOT A GREAT IDEA, IT DOES NOT SOUND GOOD DURING PLAYBACK, BUT TO RECORD FROM A CD TO A CASSETTE IS OK, NOT GREAT, BUT GOOD. CD QUALITY IS VERY GOOD. CASSETTES RECORDED FROM A LARGER BOOMBOX SOUNDS GREAT FOR PLAYBACK. I DID NOT CARE FOR THE VOLUME AND TUNING CONTROLS, ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE HARD TO SET THE STATION YOU WANT, BUT I DO LIKE THE OLD FASHIONED TUNING. STATIONS COME IN QUITE CLEAR. ALL IN ALL A VERY GOOD BOOMBOX, NOT A SONY, BUT THAT'S OK FOR ME. I HAVE PRODUCTS FROM THIS COMPANY AND THEY WORK QUITE WELL. AT LEAST THE CASSETTES DON'T GET EATEN UP. I GIVE IT A 4, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE TUNING AND VOLUME CONTROLS. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANK YOU

This little boombox has a lot going for it. It has a snappy, cute design, very compact size and the price is remarkably low. However, the downside is that it just doesn't put out very good sound. There is no bass to speak off, the midranges are hollow and tinny and most of the high end sounds are cut off. I would compare the sound quality to that of cheap PC speakers. There is no electronic sound processing (i.e. "Pop", "Rock" and "Classical" settings) either.

That said, the jWin does pack a lot of funtionality into it's modest size. It plays CDs, cassettes and has an AM/FM tuner. Reportedly you can record CD to cassette, or radio broadcast to cassette, but this is not something I have tested. The presence of a condenser mic implies voice recording, but again I didn't test this.

The AM/FM tuner is nice - it's a manual tuning dial, which I always appreciate over electronic "snap-to" tuners. There is a telescoping antenna which did a fair job of picking up FM stations from the 20 mile-distant metro area. Rather than electronic tuning, radio frequencies are printed on a wheel which is viewed through a small magnifying bubble. This bubble makes the small print larger, but narrows the viewing angle to straight on only.

The jWin runs on 6 C cell batteries, which is better than the 10-D cells another unit I considered.

The main task of this boombox will be to play audiobooks on CD and cassette for an 8-year old child. I am not certain how well it will perform at this task. I would certainly not use it to play music because of its inferior sound quality.

The jWin does have headphone jacks, and it may well be that it's cheap speakers are less of an issue with a good set of headphones plugged in.

In the end, a boombox is a portable stereo used fill a room with sound. For that reason, I had to disregard the low price and nice design and give it three stars for poor sound.

I really like this unit. It is user freindly, compact, and durable (i mainly use it in my shop with unfavorable temperatures & humidity), however, it works great and keeps on working. About the only thing it will not do, is allow the user to adjust the sound characteristics (i.e. bass, treble, etc.), but the sound is still good, even when loud, despite not having any sound adjustment options, other than volume.

What nice sound in a little boom box. I bought it for CDs, the ear phones are comfortable and sound is great. The cassette player has better sound, both recording and playback than a cassette player alone at work, which cost the same price.

I bought this cd player new a few months ago and am glad I did. It's small, light-weight and very user friendly. The sound quality is better than I expected, especially through headphones. It suits my purpose exactly and think the price was fair.

I am very well satisfied with this little electronic marvel. It is so versatile, having so many uses in this one box. And the quality of the tone it emits is very good. I'm enjoying it a lot.

I waited a month befroe reviewing this product to determine how well it would function. So far, I have played at least 10 tapes and several CD's with no problem. Everything has functioned as promised and I am very happy.

Its just what I wanted. Plays very well, its easy to operate and the sound is very good

i bought this player to use in my martial arts workouts. i could care less about musical fidelity, since the only CDs i use with it consist of someone shouting out combinations.

nevertheless, i was hoping for durability and a reasonable life-span. but after a few months of using it for about an hour a day, it could no longer track *any* of my disks (and none of my other players had any trouble with these.) i tried cleaning the lens, but that had no effect.

save your money. buy a sony. this one's a loser.

I received this JWIN mini boombox from Amazon with reasonable expectations after reading many reviews. I wasn't expecting a really solid or heavily durable unit... just expected the unit to be able to read regular music Cds and playback regular music cassettes for a person who would not use the unit that often.

Was I disappointed! Not only did this unit have difficulty reading the first music Cd I put into it, it often did not read that I had put the CD into it at all. In addition, the CD door is flimsy and poorly engineered, as is the rest of this unit, and the sound is mediocre at best.

Finally, within a week of owning this thing and trying to work with its poor quality, the power cord started slipping out of the back all the time, interrupting playback on Cds and cassettes, and no amount of pushing it back in seemed to fix the problem.

Upon investigation, I found out that the prongs on the plug in jack had become bent and pushed in too far in back of the unit, and this happened with me being careful to push the cord into the jack properly every time!

I am not a strong woman by any means, and am fairly gentle on all my home electronics, but this unit is so poorly constructed that it will not hold up to the gentlest use. I therefore do not recommend this unit to anyone, least of all a child or teen, and am returning it to Amazon for a refund.
