I have lower back pain, and can only walk for about 5 - 10 minutes before having to sit down. I'm always on the lookout for a convenient place to sit - when one is not available, I have to bend way over and stretch my back muscles to get some relief. I was looking for a portable stool, and found this product. I don't use the cane, but do use the stool. To use the stool, you simply unwrap a velcro fastener and fold out the 3 legs. A triangular shaped piece of canvas is what you sit on. I weight 240 lbs and find it to be very comfortable The handle of the cane is in front of the triangular seat, so it is easy to grab on to and lean on while seated. The weight is comfortable - I try to do power walks and find the slight weight of this product adds to the aerobic workout.

I had never used this type of product before, and bought the least expensive one I could find to see how well they worked. After two months of use, I can say this is a wonderful product and truly a godsend for anyone who cannot stand for any length of time. I do believe the construction may not hold up for many years, and that is the reason for the low priced as compared to other similar products. But priced as it is, replacement every 2 or 3 years would not be a bad thing.

Portable Walking Chair (Cane / Stool) from The Stadium Chair Company.
Cane/Folding Stool. Great Price, Very Useful.
The closed height is 36.5 inches, and since I am 5'10", it is a little short of the 38 inches I prefer in a cane, and at 3 pounds, it is a little heavy for a cane. The height is not adjustable, and since the weight of the chair is balanced directly below the handle, the design of the handle would be difficult for the manufacturer to modify in a future model. It would need two adjustable sections, one on the bent section, and one on the handle itself. These adjustable sections would only add to the overall weight for very little benefit. I just make the best of it the way it is. The plastic footpads are showing signs of wear, so I may get some rubber cane pads from the hardware store to glue on over them. This would also help to increase the cane height a little. Since I only use the cane to steady myself while walking, and I don't often lean on the handle, the rubber handle is fine. If someone wants to use it to lean on, something as simple as a folded washcloth could be wrapped around the handle and held in place with rubber bands or rubber cement, and be easily removed for washing. A black washcloth would not show dirt and could be glued on for good with silicone glue. A piece of foam rubber pipe insulation could be used instead of a washcloth, but it would fray easily from use. Perhaps some black silicone/rubber glue from an auto parts store could be used to coat the foam rubber and prevent wear. Even a padded bicycle handlebar grip could be used instead. They are sold in pairs, so you would have a spare grip for future use if needed.

My husband had a stroke paralyzing the right side of his body some years ago, and since recovering enough to walk some again, has been walking with a cane. He can't walk very far, yet, nor stand for very long. So we purchased this, so he can go further during exercise walks and have somewhere to sit if he feels tired or unsteady on his feet. The cane and its fabric seat are sturdy enough to hold his 6' something 200+ pound frame. He also uses it if we're going to Lowe's and we're looking at something specific, like just a refrigerator, because it's difficult for him to stand in one place for very long. For general shopping he'll usually take an electric cart, but with this, he doesn't need the cart for fairly quick trips. He's very happy with it, except for the cane tips. They're hard and small, and don't grip pavement as well as the larger, more rubbery cane tips. We couldn't get the cane tips off that came with it, so we bought large diameter tips that fit snugly over the the existing tips. I dinged the review one star because of the tips. They really need to grip the ground better both for walking ad when the seat is used, so it's very stable.

This portable walking cane works as advertised and my wife and I used them to watch a golf tournament. They are a bit unstable on uneven ground since they have only three legs. This is not a problem on level ground. Once you sit down, with the handle in front of you, they are quite comfortable. However, for seniors like my wife and me, it is ackward to get both legs around the wide part of the chair in order to sit down. The same thing applies when you stand up to get off the chair. Due to the height of the chair when folded. the cane function is not very useful.

This product is great as both a chair and a walking stick. I use it every day because it's so handy. The best part is that it's compact but strong enough for a 200+ pound person.
