I purchased these Portable Folding Speakers for my iPod/iPhone for travel purposes.
I didn't want to spend a lot in case I accidentally left them behind in a hotel
room, yet I desired decent sound. While browsing Amazon.com for these features,
I came across these, and at the price Amazon was offering them, I couldn't pass
up the deal! I was prepared for moderate sound and appearance. When they arrived,
I had to try them out before taking them on a trip. Was I surprised! Not only
are these lovely and compact, but the sound blew me away! I would genuinely
recommend these portable speakers!

The sound is good but occasionally distorted. I think it comes down to your tolerance for bad sound, keeping in mind that the sound quality will be with you long after the savings has worn off. (It has outstanding sound for a $2 speaker and that doesn't mean it's particularly pleasant to listen to.)

If you plan on traveling with portable speakers and want to minimize bulk, keep the cost reasonable, and have a somewhat better listening experience consider this: iLuv iSP100BLK Mini Portable Speaker for MP3 Players and iPod (Black). It's more compact, more durable, and has considerably better sound.

To put it in perspective, I'm on a business trip and was given one of these as a "thank you" for filling out a survey. I've decided it's worth tossing it in my suitcase for the trip home... but just barely. However, the next time I travel and want to take along a portable speaker it won't be this one.

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews can take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and work hard to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and if there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.

All and all, for the price (I paid around $5) it works for what I want it to (which is to listen to pod casts from my iPod touch but be able to move it from room to room or travel with it). I don't regret the purchase, I'm happy with what I got. If you're an audiophile this probably isn't for you.

Pros
1.) It was under $5
2.) I listen to pod casts and it appears to work well for that. You have to turn the volume up on the MP3 player high to get decent sound.
3.) It will work with any MP3 player since it uses a headphone jack which is nice. It comes with a USB powered cable, luckly I had a USB wall adapter.
4.) Portable, compact, easy to take with you somewhere and it was only $5.

Cons
1.) The construction is a little flimsy, but I've had no problems with it.
2.) The USB cable is very short. It has to be right next to the USB power source (the cable can't be more than a foot and a half). I'm going to have to get an extension cable (which I can always use for other things also).

These types of portable speakers are the best little speakers of the many cheap kinds we have tried. The sound is loud and clear. (They are INEXPENSIVE speakers, so keep that in mind - if you want awesome high quality sound, you won't get that in a $2 speaker!)

We use these to boost the sound for movies on our laptop, and it is loud enough to hear even with a vacuum running not far away. Since this has a standard plug that fits computers and many mp3 players, I also use this with my Sansa Fuze for audiobooks when I don't want to use headphones such as when I'm cooking.

I like that this particular item (unlike other similar folding, portable speakers at the same price) comes with a usb plug so we don't have to use batteries (it takes 4 AAAs); we can power up from the laptop instead. I also found a usb wall adapter to purchase online so I can plug that same usb cord into the adapter, and then into a regular wall outlet (I haven't received it yet so I can't comment on how that works). Too bad the regular wall adapters for this cost more than the speakers themselves!

We have 3 of these types of speakers, and plan to get another pair or two so we can have one in each bedroom, in the kitchen, and for the car (we are all big fans of audibooks!) At this price, absolutely worth it.

The only thing I'll make sure of next time is which accessories are included, such as the usb power cord, because some sell for the same price or more for just the unit itself without any extra cords.

It is a a good little speaker systym. but i don't like the old list price AT ALL. c'mon 80$?! although it works well for travel. but i do not like it's exposed speakers. If I were you I would buy this product because it is a good value for it's new list price $10.00.

Yes, if you have an iphone or an ipod classic, this is a great product for the price. but it states this item is also for ipod touch..WRONG. the ipod headphone jack is on the bottom of the device and not the top like iphones and ipod classics. so it does not fit!

I wanted to write a review for all the folks that are scratching their heads trying to figure out how to setup this product for the first time. It took me awhile to figure it out and I grew quite frustrated. First, the box my product was in had the pictures of four different products on it, but not the one I got. So, the box was no help. Also, there were no instructions. The key thing you need to do is to slide the plastic clip all the way off the bottom of the device. Then look at the bottom of the unit and you will discover the connector that you insert into your iphone/ipod. Then you take the plastic clip and insert it into the tracks from the other side of the product so that the clip is now positioned to hold your ipod/iphone at the front of the product in between the speakers. Then take the other cable that came with the product and plug one end into the power jack on the product and the other end into the USB port on your computer. Then flick the product's power button to the one position, turn on your media player, and you should hear your song playing on the speakers.

The product itself was rather flimsy plastic, and the first two times I tried to power it one the power button didn't work, but the third time was a charm and it works consistently now. The sound was better than I expected for a $5 product. Overall, definitely worth the 5 bucks.
