All of headphones sounds better with the extra juice.

It is a bit awkward to stuff into my pocket when I am on a walk with my iPod, but I make do.
Sharice Fontenot
Wish it was shorter because it's already too long combined with headphone cord.

Perfect. My headphone jack was broke and apple refused to replace it because the warranty is over. I didnt want to pay for a whole new ipod just becasue of the headphone jack so i got this and it works perfectly. The volume control comes in handy a lot also.

The only downside is that it drains battery even when not in use. So it is important to unplug when not using.

I had this product for a couple of months and been using it 2 hours a day for the last month. Its great for my cardio, i just run in my shirt and clip it to my camel pack strap. It make music sound so clear, i can hear the echos in the studio or extra surround sounds. I am alot better having purchased it, than not. And it seems to hold up very well to moisture and tugs and pulls. Moisture, I run it thru my shirt and I sweat alot during those two hours, and some occasional water falls on it. And I pull on it sometimes when i remove my compression shirts and it still looks as when i first bought it. To put it this way, the only reason I am reviewing it right now,is because i looked for it to get one for my wife so she wont borrow mine.

This product works great for my iPod that has a malfunctioning headphone jack, makes listening so much easier and more clear that just the regular headphone jack too.

I used to rock a HeadRoom BitHead which has broken and gone unreplaced for a few years now. I'm using Klipsch S4i's on my Iphone 3GS, and I felt the earbuds needed more juice to round out the potential.

The E1 fit the bill nicely. It combines LOD with enough amplification to make the sound significantly warmer and with deeper soundstage. It's hard for me to explain further, because I'm an amateur audiophile. But I know what sounds more natural and the E1 delivers a significantly more pleasurable listening experience. It feels like there's more space and depth to the music than just through the line out on the Iphone.

Someday, when I have more money and arm strength, I'll get another BitHead. Till then, I'll use the E1 and watch the battery life drain a bit faster than usual (obviously, the E1 draws power from the Iphone to operate its circuitry, so expect faster battery depletion).

Other users noted the cord is too long; I don't mind so far, I just keep it looped up as it was on arrival. Another noted design flaw are the easily depressed navigation buttons, but that hasn't been a problem for me.

$20 + small size + better audio quality = SWEEEEET.

Yes, this item did meet my expectations. I have a classic ipod with earphone jack that was malfunctioning. I was able to plug the FIIO E1 into the charging jack to enjoy full sound in each ear. No more having to play around with the earphone connector constantly to get stereo sound. The sound control is a bit sensitive if you hold on to increase the sound for too long the ipod advances to the track. Overall a fine purchase.

Great that I don't have to reach for the ipod to change songs or volume. Volume boost is decent. Buttons that change songs are very sensitive, so you have to be careful not to run across them.

I give this unit five stars, because it inexpensively solves the broken 1/8 inch jack issues issue from which many Classic IPods suffer.
Not quite ready to pull the trigger on a Fiio portable DAC, I’m pleased that I can at least have access to a large part of my music again after three years.

And the headphone amplifier is certain an added bonus, for ten bucks, though I mostly run this unit from a Classic IPod to the Aux In
port of a Tivoli radio, and I hear more tonal clarity than before.

For me, owning a DAC doesn’t make much sense if it’s just for listening to music. I am more concerned with decompressing audio files when I am making my own music, in which case Cubase has plenty of good utilities for that.

Anyway….duly appreciate those who would say that the user interface of this gizmo is a little unwieldy at times, especially for those of us who work out a lot.  The product has a specific audience:  those who have nimble fingers but limited budgets and who would aren’t moving about too much.

Just received the item about a week ago, was using my FiiO E7 all the while.
When I first hooked up to my iPod and the Shure SRH1540, It was a great surprise that
it sounded amazing. This is one of the most amazing item to have for your iPod.
The best thing about this item is that you can hooked up to your iPod and placed inside your
bag and still able to control the device from outside. Whereas, when using the E7 you need to control
your Rig via your iPod and need to have it outside close by ...
Not only it sound Good with my Shure SRH 1540 The cable, design and material used also looks Good.
The only problem is that the cable to me is a little bit too long when link to your Headphone.
Its about time FiiO should consider providing an original storage case instead a Pouch for all their product.
Happy with the money spend on this item. Highly recommended . . . a must have item if you're using an iPod.
