First off, you should know that anyone with some fundemental knowledge of water treatment can make one of these in their garage from catalog parts. That's exactly what this unit looks like, too. I bought it because it was cheap, but a week later I saw a better system advertised at the local home center for $20 less.

The unit I received came with a faucet adaptor. That's right, just one adaptor and it didn't fit anything in my house, so before I could use the unit I had to go to the store and get a part to mate the RO unit to a faucet. Once that was accomplished, I was able to make RO water right away, and the best I can tell, the unit works properly. It does, however, have a terrible rejection rate; something in the range of 10:1 reject to product water. This is much to high for city water, even on a bad day. This is probably because the city water pressure is too low, but there is no way to tell. There is no information in the instruction regarding pressure requirements.

Part of the problem with the unit is the instuctions are nearly worthless. They look like a third generation copy spit out of a copier in need of a good cleaning. There is nothing in the instructions about the minimum or maximum operating pressure, nothing about recovery rate, no troubleshooting guidance and the print is blurry. Unless you have a good idea what your doing already, you might want to try somebody else's product.

The good news is that the unit is truely portable and requires no power whatsoever to operate. You could probably use it on a camping trip if you had a hand pump or some other way to develope enough pressure to operate the unit. It is compact, but the tubing array just hangs loose with no provisions for storage or detaching, making it somewhat difficult to store neatly. Overall, not a very well thought out product, and more expensive than it should be.

I just got and tested this filter,
it connected to my sink very easy.
it has a switch so you can select filter or bypass the filter unit.
it worked well and the water tastes good,
I did not want a pressurized tank like most systems have, I know that makes it a little slow, but its not that slow, I just set a water pitcher under it while I cook dinner, one liter in 6 min. with my regular city water pressure.
and because there is no pressure tank this system is really portable.
just perfect for someone that wants to take a system with them.
it kind of looks like you could build it your self, its really simple, looks easy to fix and maintain.
no more evil fluoride, MTBE or other bad things in my water anymore.
good price as well.

This unit is easy to use and gives great results -- highly recommended.

We had a built in RO unit in our last house and didn't want to drill holes in the granite countertops at our new house, so we bought this unit. It's definitely portable and will travel with us wherever we live. I put it in the laundry sink to process the water -- we do about 2 gallons every couple of days. So you know, RO's generate about a gallon of purified water and send another 10 down the drain. What you are left with is highly purified and tasteless water. Most all of the chlorine, fluoride and other minerals are removed.

Because this sink has a standard hose fitting on the faucet, we needed to get an adapter from the hardware store (about $6) and you will want to use a pliers to tighten it to prevent leaks. The laundry sink is handy because everything drains and you'll never have any issue of one of the output hoses falling out of the sink and putting water.

When you start out, you should run the unit for probably 10-20 gallons of processed water to clear out any tastes of plastic, which is normal for a new RO unit and shouldn't take more than 12 hours.

I purchased this system, and while the product itself is good, the customer service the company is providing is beyond poor. The package did not include the two replacement filters that I ordered and paid for. I contacted the company through the email and they told me that I need to just go away and check the packaging again to find something that clearly was never mailed to me. The two filters are a bit too big in size to miss, really. I called them again, and the customer service representative was very unhelpful and very rude, tried to get rid of me with a vague promise of a call back. Finally, after my persistence, they agreed to mail the filters, so I will have to see how it goes or whether I will have to refund this part of the purchase through the credit card bank.

The water tastes great after running through this filter. However, I have a well and pump and it works very slow because my water pressure runs 30 to 50 lbs. States that it needs 50lbs to work properly. Does work with less but slowly. Also I have a whole house filter and this filter wastes 80% of the water.

This is not that economical but does insure you have good filtered water rather than taking someone else's word for it.

Runs straight from the tap in your sink. My sinks aren't deep enough to put a large bottle in, so I must put a small bottle and then pour it into a larger container. You cannot just leave this running, it requires attention.

This is a nice little RO filter, but as other reviewers have mentioned, the instructions are absolutely worthless. If you're somewhat knowledgeable about plumbing you should eventually be able to figure everything out. If not, here's a hint: The individual filters in this unit are connected with hoses held in place by quick connect fittings. If you've never worked with these before, here's an excellent video that explains everything you need to know -- [...]. (The section about quick connect fittings starts about 45 seconds in, but watch the whole video; the beginning explains a compression fitting, which is the type of fitting used to connect your filter to the water supply.)

if they cant make a clean instruction sheet how can i trust they made a product that can truly clean water. i am going to pass
