4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Florida hurricane season
I wanted an ultra- cheap battery operated tv for blackouts during Florida's delightful hurricane season (if you are thinking of moving to Florida, forget it, unless the idea of living for weeks without electricity, not being able to afford home insurance, paying California prices for houses the size of bungalows, and dealing with loads of transient people with shady pasts...

3.0 out of 5 stars So cheap it's a no-brainer
I bought my cheap little Chinese made jWIN Mini TV/Radio at a base exhange for $14.95 because I could not believe the price. From the exterior look of the unit, it appears to be a clone of the Memorex that costs twice as much. It performs as advertised although the manual tuner is a bit hard to read and it is badly engineered so it's impossible to get some stations at...

From the exterior look of the unit, it appears to be a clone of the Memorex that costs twice as much. It performs as advertised although the manual tuner is a bit hard to read and it is badly engineered so it's impossible to get some stations at the end of the bands. If you can get it for a price in the teen$ then go for it.

I wanted an ultra- cheap battery operated tv for blackouts during Florida's delightful hurricane season (if you are thinking of moving to Florida, forget it, unless the idea of living for weeks without electricity, not being able to afford home insurance, paying California prices for houses the size of bungalows, and dealing with loads of transient people with shady pasts appeals to your sense of adventure). It takes 8 C batteries and works just fine. It lasts about 16 hours on 8 batteries so stock up. It made the weeks without electricity more manageable. I also advise you to get lots of battery operated lanterns, headphones to block out the deafening sound of backyard generators, and a gun to protect yourself. Welcome to Florida!

1.0 out of 5 stars useless, October 28, 2011
This review is from: Portable TV with Am/Fm Radio ( 5 inch B&W Ac/Dc ) (Electronics)
Unless you intend to connect this piece of junk to a cable line, it won't work because TV stations no longer available on the "airwaves". I forgot about that and thought the antena would pull in stations. But even if airwaves still around, the tuning knob broke off first time I turned it. What do you expect for the money?? It falls apart just looking at it.
