Battery housing is defective
on July 23, 2012
I ordered two units and both of them had the same defect from what looks like cheap manufacturing. The contact points at the bottom of the battery housing are not glued on straight. The lights will turn on with the battery casing open but when you close the battery housing, the batteries are shifted off the contact point at the bottom causing the unit to shut off. Because the contact point is glued on and affixed underneath two bits of plastic, it would be impossible to fix without breaking the battery case. I tried just leaving the battery case open but the units began shifting between solid, quick flash, and slow flash without pressing the button. The lights, when lit, made a high-pitched whine that got annoying after a while. I returned these items for a refund. It's possible other people leaving great reviews didn't receive a defective unit from the same faulty batch. I wouldn't buy or recommend buying unless the defect was fixed and all defective units were pulled from distribution.
