4.0 out of 5 stars No power source
For the price, these speakers are definitely worth it. I use them in my room and I never have a problem with the sound. You can turn the sound up on the speaker unit and if that's not loud enough, turning the volume up on your iPod increases the volume as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Speakers for Price, But Beware!
For the price, these speakers are not a bad deal. However, they are a bit misleadng. They do require batteries or a dc adapter, however, they will also drain the power from its source. 3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Speakers for Price, But Beware!, September 27, 2005
This review is from: Portable mini NEW Stereo Speaker system for iPod/cd/MP3 (Electronics)
For the price, these speakers are not a bad deal. However, they are a bit misleadng. They do require batteries or a dc adapter, however, they will also drain the power from its source. As it does so, the speaker quality decreases dramatically. For example, I use this with my iPod. I used it over two days for a total of about 8 hours. The first day the iPod was fully charged and the batteries in the speakers were brand new. The sound quality was surprisingly good. By about hour 4 I noticed that songs with bass sounded crappy and that my iPod was close to being dead. As I let the unit play the quality got worse and the iPod went completely dead. As soon as I plugged the iPod into the wall charger the speaker quality returned to its original clarity.

The only complaint I have is a lack of power source. You will have to either by batteries, which can be expensive, or a charger. I bought a charger and everything has worked fine so far.

Overall, these are worth getting if your looking for something cheap and easily transported.

3.0 out of 5 stars iPod-MP3 on the go, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Portable mini NEW Stereo Speaker system for iPod/cd/MP3 (Electronics)
This is a nice set of speakers for travel! I have an iPod and several other devices that I like to listen to. Having a small set of speakers that fold up and protected for travel are great for breafcase (backpack style). The only little complaint I have is that the cable that plugs into the player is very short. It's ok if you are going to have the speakers and player right next to each other, but if there is any room needed you have to use an extention. But overall, even the sound is great and being able to power it from a notebook PC is nice for when I'm watching programs downloaded from my TiVo.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good sound, November 19, 2006
This review is from: Portable mini NEW Stereo Speaker system for iPod/cd/MP3 (Electronics)
For the price, this device has surprisingly good sound. The battery issue is valid, but you can buy a 6V 350mA AC adapter to minimize the issue. I would recommend this to non-audiophiles, but what audiophile has an iPod?

The speaker sounded good, but in less than two weeks, it stopped working. The product was only used by an adult and definitely was not mishandled in any way. Save your money and go for something a bit more substantial.

1.0 out of 5 stars Please don't waste ur time and money, June 21, 2010
This review is from: Portable mini NEW Stereo Speaker system for iPod/cd/MP3 (Electronics)
The speakers look good and very compact. But there is a lot of static in the sound.
Also the worst part is that the speakers can be charged only through USB or battery. We can't use direct power supply.
These speakers act only as amplifiers and are not much useful.

On serious notes, don't waste ur time and bucks!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't do it!, July 13, 2009

This review is from: Portable mini NEW Stereo Speaker system for iPod/cd/MP3 (Electronics)
I read reviews that this was a great deal. I disagree! This is the worst thing I have ever bought. The sound is very small, my speakers in my laptop are louder than these were! Save your $5! It was cheap and horrible and I am very upset with my purchase! I put batteries in and the plastic started smoking. DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON THESE SPEAKERS!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price., July 6, 2009

We used this with our iPods for two months in an apartment on the other side of the world (where we couldn't take much luggage). It's not hi fidelity, but it's impressive for $5!!

Got a trip, or a room where you only need music occasionally? You'll be surprised.

Yes, your iPod may not fit in the slot well. It's really not that important.

Yes, it needs batteries or DC power. The USB power cable is great for USB wallwarts or power from a laptop.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy For MP3 Players!, January 20, 2009
This review is from: Portable mini NEW Stereo Speaker system for iPod/cd/MP3 (Electronics)
The pic for this product shows the MP3 player cradled right-side up. If your MP3 has its headphone jack on the bottom edge, this speaker set-up forces you to plug the MP3 in upside-down to fit in the cradle. This makes the cradle worthless.

The USB cable allows you to plug in the speakers to your computer without using batteries, but the cable is too short for most situations.

The sound is decent but too weak to compete with anything short of silence.

If you have a stereo system, buy an audio cable that will connect your MP3 player (through the headphone jack) for proper sound levels. They are cheaper than this speaker set.

If you want something portable that's not disappointing, your going to have to spend more money.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, April 7, 2010

These are the 2nd and 3rd set of speakers I have bought. I'm a massage therapist and work out of 3 separate locations. There is limited space in my little rooms. I leave the speakers in each of my session rooms, just plug my MP3 player into the speakers and I'm ready to go. I takes up almost no room at all. And I get so many comments from my clients about the sound coming from those cute little speakers. I was a little concerned about using batteries, but I have replaced the batteries in my older speakers about 4 times in the last year and I use those speakers 25 hours a week on average. My sister gave my son a set of these same speakers for Christmas 2 years ago and they are still going strong.
