Editorial Reviews

2012 four CD set containing music from the popular video game. Portal 2 is the sequel to 2007's Game of the Year and draws from the award-winning formula of innovative gameplay, story, and music that earned the original over 70 industry accolades. Give your ears the gift of sound and let them relive the glory days of testing in full fidelity, without the distracting hisses and pops that accompany being submerged in acid.

Customer Reviews

The set comes with codes for free tf2 and dota 2 items as well.

I Bought this just to get the TF2 item code within it and it worked, so if you are buying this for that then you will be in luck.

Definitely a must-have for any Portal collector or hardcore fan.

So how big a portal fan are you? If you are like me, pretty big. In fact, if you end up on this page, you are almost certainly a big portal fan, because let's face it, this music is not going to be burning up the top 40 charts any time soon. So, Mr. or Mrs. Big Fan, here you go--four discs worth of portally goodness to listen to as you are testing (or doing anything else you want). There's all the tunes you know and love, including some tracks from Portal 1, and some vocals from GLaDOS (you murdering fiend). Please be aware that many of these tracks are available for free from the Official Portal site, but if you need to have a physical copy, then this will suit you just fine. I give it five stars because I admire the obsessive completion that lets it span four discs, and the composition is all top notch--but you knew that, because you've played the game 15 times already. Haven't you? Well haven't you? SO, in summary, the music is good, and the cake is a lie.

This is online for free, but I wanted a physical copy since I enjoy having the actual CDs in my possession if possible. Plus, this came with a few codes for Steam; one code for a few items in Team Fortress, and the other for a copy of DOTA 2. I like it when companies release music for their games, and include a bonus for buying it. The music is the usual high quality of a regular CD bought from a store. I really enjoyed Portal 1 and 2, and the music being put onto a physical set that comes with a few extra goodies is nice to have, especially from Valve since they seem like they are one of the few companies left to actually take their time on all their products (Half-Life 3 anyone?) Overall, this is another item for my collection that I am satisfied and excited to have. Some people complained that when they received it, it was busted up. Mine came in a bubblewrap tight packaging with cardboard on the back, and the shipping info on the front. The packaging felt solid, but it made me have to use scissors on the plastic for the shipping packaging because it was wrapped so tightly that pulling on it made the casing creak and shift around (which isnt good for the plastic jewel case.) My one and only problem was with Amazon sending it two days after it released, but they made up for it with it arriving two days earlier than the promised date. Worth the $15 I spent on this, and would definitely pre-purchase something like this again if they release another music collection compiled of the quality music from their games.

Definitely a must-have for any Portal collector or hardcore fan. It comes with a TF2 Promo code (Which gives you a box that is "sealed until a later date" along with a DOTA 2 Invite with it's own promo code. (3 Rare Weapons)

I was also rather amused by the disc covers. Each disc is one of the four core's eyes. (Disc 1: Wheatley, Disc 2: Rick, etc.) I was expecting just a generic disc with "Portal 2: Disc X" on it.

Others on here seem to be complaining about the casing, but mine seems fine. It came in perfect condition, and the only complaint I have is that it's a bit hard to open/close. Seems durable though.

Just writing a review to confirm that this Soundtrack I ordered off Amazon still gives the TF2 and Dota 2 codes.

Overall the album is alright, if you're really wanting it I'd recommend downloading it off the Portal 2 site for free. With that in mind, I'll talk about the packaging and the material itself.

The case is just a simple multi-divided jewel case to hold the four discs. Nothing special, but not particularly bad either.

The discs are all just fine, have good quality bitrates for the songs, and the CD covers look like Personality Cores.

The soundtrack comes with a little mini comic to enjoy, and a couple of promo codes: An invite for DOTA 2 beta, and a product code for the "What's in the Portal 2 Soundtrack Box?" item (Also I got a mann co package which contains a random item from the Mann Co Store).

So really all in all, I'd only get it if you're interested in the Ap-Sap. Otherwise you're probably better off just downloading it for free off the Portal 2 site.

Well, this is a pretty good soundtrack. I didn't have any problems with my packaging like some people had mentioned. Arrived in one piece. Got my TF2 promo code which is sweet. The invite for DOTA 2 is nice as well. That having been said, I kind of cannot believe that Exile Vilify was not included on here. You'd think with 4 discs it'd be a little more 'complete'. It probably has something to do with The National's record label, but if that's the case, come on! I think The National owes a significant debt to Valve for the ridiculous amount of exposure generated by Portal 2. If it was something else, all I can say is...

This is a great set for any portal 2 collector. It is not just 1 cd you get a total of 4 cd's and game codes for Team Fortress 2. My sons got several of these cd's just to use the codes online for game items to keep and trade."RENITA"

Can anyone confirm whether or not the promo code was a preorder bonus?
I purchased this about a week ago (recieved the package yesterday) and they still have codes for TF2 + dota 2.
