I bought one of the Portal guns soon after they came out, and immediately wished I had a stand to display it on. At the time there was no announcements of any stands coming out for the gun, so I decided to make one myself using black-lacquered wood as a base, some copper piping for arms and pipe insulation for a soft surface to rest the gun on. Well, it figures that they would finally come out with a nice(r) "official" display stand for all us Portal gun owners; as it would also figure that Amazon would drop the price 15 bucks a week AFTER I already bought mine!

As the other reviewers have stated this display stand is ALL plastic, but so is the Portal gun, so it's definitely durable enough to display what it's meant to display. The circular base is 13 inches in diameter, which IMHO, is unnecessarily large. 10 inches would have been sufficient, especially if they weighted the bottom. This large base will definitely limit most peoples display area options, so you may need to "feng shui" (which literally translates into "wind-water"; I didn't know that till just now!) your room a bit.

Lastly, the little "Aperture Laboratories" logo plaque in the front was a little dull and uninteresting for my taste. So to add a little personal touch, I reworked a design of my own that I had laser engraved on a piece of black aluminum for my old, homemade stand. This time however I had it put on a piece of blue aluminum to somewhat match the color scheme of the plaque that comes with this stand. If interested, I submitted a couple of pictures up top so you can see it.

This is one of those simple products that either does what it's suppose to do or doesn't...and this one DOES! If you have a Portal gun, then yeah, you'd probably want to spend just a little more to display that nice, fancy Portal gun you plunked down so much moolah for on this display stand; and if you don't have a Portal gun (or at least know someone who does and could use one of these as a gift), I have no idea why you would be looking at this display stand or even reading this review?!

I purchased two of these for my son to display both of his Portal guns. They are enormous. If you wanted to place this on a shelf, remember that the base is 13 1/2 inches wide -- therefore your shelf will have to be equally as deep, if not more. They seem sturdy and function nicely for displaying your toy. There were no problems setting up the stand. It comes in three pieces and the two sections are interchangeable with either side so you can face the gun whichever way you desire.

Overall, he is very happy with them and that's all that really matters.

I expected this to hold the Portal Gun, which it does fine, I just didn't expect it take up as much space as it does. The gun fits snuggly into the holder, though, so it does what it was advertised to do. It's just a LOT larger than the area I had intended for it.

The plastic feels to be of much less quality than the gun its meant to hold, too.

Works for what it's supposed to do - holds a portal gun. I do wish it or at least the base were smaller though because it will not fit on top of a bookshelf without sticking out over the edge.

This product looks just like the one in the game and does a great job holding up the portal gun replica I got my boyfriend for Christmas. It's been holding the gun since December and has yet to fail. Our friend also has both products and has not yet had any complaints!

Perfect for a portal fan with a replica gun and nowhere to display it!

This display stand is pretty big, but it looks great holding my Portal gun. The arms were a little tough to attach to the stand, I was a little afraid I was going to break them while forcing them into the stand. The stand seems pretty sturdy, and not made of flimsy material.

This ASHPD stand is made from in-game models, and it does indeed look quite close to the stands in-game (though it's on a base instead of a post). It holds the ASHPD replica well, and even has rubber padding in the half-loops to avoid scratching the plastic on either replica.

The only reason I have found to be less than perfectly pleased is the assembly process. Getting the arms onto their supports was an exercise in PUSH-PUSH-I-hope-this-doesn't-break-the-plastic. The arms fit VERY snugly onto the support members--so snugly that I couldn't get one on all the way; it sticks out about 1/8" further than it should because I didn't want to risk breaking the plastic. The other is properly mounted, but I don't know how I'll get the arms off in the future when it's time to move and pack up my belongings for shipping.

Once again, this was a gift for my son for Christmas. He likes it so that is all that matters.

I love the custom display stand to proudly show my device to all who enter my place!

The base is a bit bigger than I thought it would be, but I'm sure it's probably necessary to hold up the device. :D
