Book Description

October 1, 2004
Portal to Love, a romance adventure, is a quest for life’s magical intangibles mingled with passion and desire. Call it paranormal. Call it metaphysical. Sip the elixir of illusion, as the tumultuous romance between Langley and Ivan unfolds, and the reader sees how Peter handles his new position in Langley’s life. Against a backdrop of fast-paced global business and political struggles within the Middle East, Langley, the co-owner of a shipping magnet, Peter, who is her fiancé, and Ivan, an eager archeologist digging around the Zagros Mountains on the border of Iran and Iraq, meet in a unique exchange of power. Which force will reign? Which force will be subdued? Is it as simple as good versus evil? As the reader, gradually freefalls into a web of illusion, mystery, and revenge a final question arises. “Where does reality end and illusion begin?”

This is quite an amazing book, thought-provoking, and challenging. --Romance Readers Connection, 2005

About the Author

After studying dance in Europe, Julie A. Carda returned to the United States and graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1981. With a desire to expand her knowledge of the arts and spirituality, she graduated from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN with a Master’s of Arts degree in Theology and Liturgical Studies. She taught and lectured for several years while occasionally writing for academic periodicals. Her quest to acknowledge world religions and the desire to expose the similarities of love and peaceful living, led her to travel, live, and study with shaman practitioners, herbal healers, Native American medicine women, Buddhist priests and other earth-based spiritual teachers. Through these experiences, she learned to honor and connect to the life force. After several years sojourn, she returned to Nebraska and is currently living in physical and spiritual transition with her husband and their two sons.

4.0 out of 5 stars Portal to Love, July 23, 2005

This review is from: Portal to Love (Paperback)
Portal to Love is a good first book for this author. I don't usually read romance novels but there was just enough intrigue and action to keep my attention. And - okay, I'll admit it - I kind of liked the mushy parts. The author seems to have found her voice at about halfway through the book and that helped the story flow. There was a discouraging amount of typos - but I'll blame the publisher for that one. End Note: it's a good first book!
