5.0 out of 5 stars An Essential Addition to the Porter-Cable shop
I have a Porter-Cable sander and biscuit joiner, and this hose works perfectly with both. I hook it up to the shop vac, and wow. At least 95% less sawdust in the air than with the little bags. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but...
Dust control is great and this hose helps. However, the other end is 1.5" wich is not a standard size for ShopVac and Craftsman which are 2.5" & 1.25". You will have to get one of those universal adaptors to make it work.

I read some of the reviews from others that had poor remarks about this hose, and was a little bit apprehensive about buying it, but I have had no trouble with this hose at all. It is flexible and provides plenty of airflow for the tools I am using it for. I hook it to my PC 333vs sander and my PC plate joiner and I get absolutely ZERO sawdust. It's nice that it doesn't slip off of the tool's dust port too.

Literature says this hose adapts to 2 1/2". Well it doesn't. The large end of the hose measures 1 3/4" o.d.. I need to go looking for another adaptor. Not happy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fresh breath for your power tools, March 28, 2007

This hose is reasonbly priced. It is sturdy and flexible. It fits all my porter cable power tool with dust port (routers, sanders).
Its length is conveniant and allow me to run the hose all the way to the ceiling and down to my workbench.

My only complaint is that the hose requires an adapter to be able to fit on a standard shop vac port.

I love the way PC says it fits "standard" 1.5" fittings. Anyway, I bought a Shop Vac 1-1/4" extension wand for about $5. If you cut off the last couple inches of the wide end of the wand, it makes a perfect bushing for this hose. I will probably glue it permanently into the 1.5" end of the hose and then it will fit the truly standard 1.25" fittings.

The hose does a good job of what it is supposed to do. PC just needs to get away from these non-standard dimensions. Did somebody in marketing think this would force people to buy PC vacs?

2.0 out of 5 stars Hose Doesn't Fit, October 27, 2004

This review is from: Porter-Cable 39332 Vacuum Hose for 1-Inch O.D. Dust Ports (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought the 39332 Vacuum hose with the 1" port to hook up to my Porter Cable Model 340 Palm Sander and to hook up to my Porter Cable Model 7812 (10 Gallon) Vacuum Cleaner. I bought the hose and vacuum cleaner at the same time. The hose fits very nicely on the palm sander. But for the life of me I cannot figure out how it hooks up to the vacuum cleaner. Not one of the diameters fits properly anywhere.

I discovered that the vacuum cleaner comes with a 1" adapter (for just what I wanted to do). No where in the online literature is there any mention of a 1" adapter I spent $22 for nothing.

I have owned this hose for about six years now. It does an excellent job of catching dust from the 1-inch fitting on many of my Porter Cable tools. I had used a Porter Cable sander with one at a friends, and was so impressed with how much better it caught the dust than my sander, I bought a new Porter Cable sander, that came with the hose, and sold my old sander on ebay.

I had a "Mr. Nozzle" hose on my shop vac when I bought my sander, and the Porter Cable hose hooked up to it with no problems. (The "Mr. Nozzle" hose is a lot better than the standard hose that comes with the shop vacuums, and is well worth the money it costs. It flexes better, and is a lot more durable.)

I have since been influenced in my tool purchases by whether they have good dust capture capabilities, and as a consequence have several more sanders that hook up to the 1-inch hose, two Porter Cable Saws, a biscut joiner, and several routers I use it with.

I am satisfied enough that I am ordering another today, because I forgot mine at my sister's house and can't stand the dust that gets in the air with out it.

4.0 out of 5 stars worth it, July 14, 2006

This review is from: Porter-Cable 39332 Vacuum Hose for 1-Inch O.D. Dust Ports (Tools & Home Improvement)
I recently sanded the finish off of kitchen cabinets with my PC orbital sander with the hose hooked up to a not very powerfull shop vac. There was virtually no dust in the kitchen when I was done. I estimate the dust removal at 90 - 95%. I solved the common problem of attaching the hose to the vac this way. I purchased an adaptor from a local store and it didn't match up with the vac. The hole in the vac was 2 1/4" and the OS dia. of the adaptor was over 2 1/4". Wouldn't fit. The IS dia. of the adaptor was 2 1/4". What I needed was something with an OS dia. of 2 1/4" that would snugly fit into the vac and the into the adaptor. I found it in the plumbing section of the local hardware store. An ABS (black in color) 1 1/2" coupling measures 2 1/4" on the outside. They are only 2" in length, so I glued two of them together using a short piece of ABS pipe. Basically, I created a 4 1/2" long cylinder that fit inside the vac and inside the adaptor for only a couple of dollars. Makes a nice slip fit. The hose would get 5 stars if it were easier to fit to most vacs.

3.0 out of 5 stars major loss of vacumm, October 12, 2001
This review is from: Porter-Cable 39332 Vacuum Hose for 1-Inch O.D. Dust Ports (Tools & Home Improvement)
I like how flexible the hose is but it only works for veryfine light loads like dust from a palm sander. If you connect it to your router etc. for freehand work it will 1. loses most of it vacumm due to the small hose. 2. it'll plug up due to the small hose.

Buy the adapters for your tools but convert them to a slightly bigger flexible hose e.g. 1 1/2" size flex. Also this hose is not designed to be cut shorter ( 5 feet) to improve it efficency. The fittings on the end are part of the hose.
