5.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied with my bammer
I have used my bammer extensively for 3 years now. Probably gone through 20 fuel cells with no problems. Only problem has been sometimes the fuel cells leak. This is solved by oiling the rubber cell seal to keep it supple. I love the freedom my bammer gives me. No lugging around an air compressor just to do a 10 minute job. No air hoses to sort out. The bammer is so...

1.0 out of 5 stars Bammer not worth buying
I called Porter Cable and was told that the bammer guns were discontinued because they never worked as a Porter Cable should. Porter Cable offered to replace the tool with another but made no guarantee that it would work. After complaining a bunch PC offered to replace the Bammer with any equal value product. That is why I will stick with Porter Cable tools but it will...

This is solved by oiling the rubber cell seal to keep it supple. I love the freedom my bammer gives me. No lugging around an air compressor just to do a 10 minute job. No air hoses to sort out. The bammer is so versatile I have even installed wood flooring with it. Too bad Porter Cable discontinued it. All they had to do was beef it up a little design-wise.

I have used dozens of bammer fuel cartridges and never had any problems with a single one...the fuel cartridges work just fine from start to finish.

I love my Portal Cable finish nailer. It works great almost all the time. When their is an occasional jam it is easy to clear and continue nailing. The bammer fuel cells works great.

4.0 out of 5 stars not for high altitude, June 1, 2000

the misc guy (santa fe, nm USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Porter-Cable 6020 BAMMER Fuel Cell (Tools & Home Improvement)
this fuel cell is for use with the "bammer" serires nailers from porter-cable. it was designed for a maximum altitude of "denver", 5000 feet above sea level. at higher altitudes, there is less oxygen to fuel the combustion that drives each nail or staple in cordless guns. what this means is, after you pull the trigger to fire a nail, there is a 2 to 5 second delay while the combustion takes place and the nail is fired. this can be quite frustrating. paslode has developed high altitude fuel cell packs for their cordless guns; please tell me porter-cable is close behind, because i like their guns much better. i live in santa fe, nm, usa and the altitude is 7,000 to 7,500 feet; the santa fe ski area is at 12,000 feet.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a very worthwhile tool!, May 26, 2004

These fuel cells are great! They are a great value for the benefit they afford: namely portable power nailing without a compressor. The only drawback I have found to these fuel cells is that you must remove them if you will not be using your Bammer for an extended period of days/weeks. If you do not, all of the fuel will slowly seep out and your fuel cell will be empty when you next need it!

And speaking of the nail gun itself, I have owned a Porter-Cable "Bammer" for about three years now and I remain well pleased with its performance. I am a do-it-yourselfer primarily using the nailer for basic home remodeling and woodworking in my garage shop. I have used mine to hang all types of moldings and casings throughout my house and friends' houses, as well as to attach moldings to furniture projects in the shop. The worst "problem" I have ever had with this nail gun is a feed/jam, which was easily cleared (it has only happened once or twice).

Bottom Line: If you read and follow the instructions, and take your time with this tool, I see no reason why you cannot have as much success with it as I have.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bammer- The hillbilly hammer, June 12, 2000
This review is from: Porter-Cable 6020 BAMMER Fuel Cell (Tools & Home Improvement)
This tool worked some of the time. Mostly, it drove nails in about half way, jammed, and mis-fired. I called Jackson, TN when the Bammer stopped working altogether. The gave me a service number to call. After being put 'on hold' for 20 minutes, they automatically hung up.

The corporation I work for has an annual operating buget of $150 mil. We won't be ordering tools from Porter-Cable. I need dependable service, and the Porter-Cable 6020P BAMMER Fuel Cell just doesn't provide it.

good price at amazon for these. Haven't found them for less.
I've had some lose most of the fuel--so the other reviewer who
suggested oiling the top seal may be right--I'm trying it. Also remove the cell if you don't expect to use it for a while.
They also carry the staples for the bammer.

Just borrowed a friends Porter Cable "Bammer" and loved it. The fuel cell concept works great, no air compressor, or battery pack. For the homeowner or do-it-yourselfer, it is great. It has been discontinued, but is still available new, and used; fuel cells are available here. We bought a "Bammer" of our own; didn't want to give the borrowed one back.

This review is from: Porter-Cable 6020 BAMMER Fuel Cell (Tools & Home Improvement)
Why would porter cable sell me a bammer nailer and then discontinue producing the fuel cell for it? I own a bammer nailer that is useless. Thank you porter cable!
