Router itself is a 5-star but the kit is just a 3-star,

This is a great router! You have no idea how much easier it is to rout without the cord. I have a Makita RF1101, Makita RP1101 and a Bosch 1619EVS. I don't use any of those now. The cordless dose all of my jobs. I am well educated in physics and wood working is my hobby. Not like most others I don't get fooled by manufactures boastings about power. Hint; always go by metric units, they can't trick you then. Most 1.5 HP routers have an impedance of 11A. That is 1320W @ 120V of power out-put. This router has a power output of 600W, what is less than half of a 1.5 HP. suppose this was a corded 120V, the empedience would be 5 Amperes. Porter-Cable claims that this router will do as a 1.5 HP. I say, PC is tiring to trick you. while this router will do most of you're fixed based routing, it's got less than half the power of a 1.5 HP and it will not do or act as one. I love this router, but the kit, no it just doesn't work. this kit comes with only one battery! come on Porter-Cable, do you expect people to wait an hour for charging when the battery goes down? If you don't have another PC 19.2V tool you gonna have to buy a battery. That is more $. I take one star away for this. This is the cheapest thing PC did here, there is only the .25 inch collet. You have to buy a .5 inch... The other thing that I find cheap is that the base is screw on. I couldn't stand it and bought a clip-on base. for these 2 I will take another star off... If this kit came with 2 batteries, a .5 inch collet and a base with clip-on it is a defined 5 star, since it didn't I will have to rate it as a 3-star. Nevertheless, the router itself is a 5-star.

great router for door hangers,

i bought this router about 6 months ago based upon the reviews. it works great. if you hang doors you can carry it in the house and use it to rout out the lockset on the side of the door etc. I have used it to hang about 17 doors so far and it will usually do 7 doors without recharging the battery. I bought the 19.2 drill from porter cable, so I have 2 more batteries. I know have about 23 drills, because the cost of 2 batteries seperatly is only about 30-60 bucks less than a whole kit. use this router with the collet for the door jigs and you will be happy. kreg

Door Hangers Dream,

I hang custom doors for a living in the San Diego area and I tell you what. If I can go through a house, mortising latch and strike plates without dragging a cord, Im in heaven. I give it only 4 stars because it doesnt quite match up to the 2 corded PC routers I already use for other jobs and also the single battery it comes with
