This combination of three cordless tools contains all the tools you need for cord-free woodworking. The 19.2-volt 1/2-inch drill/driver, model 9984, has a two-speed gear box developing up to 390 in/lbs of torque through two speeds ranges; 0-500 in low and 0-1,500 in high. The 20-position clutch and the electronic variable speed allow you to precisely control the torque and speed. The model 643 cordless jig saw features our patented Quick-Change keyless blade clamp, which accepts standard tang shank blades and can be changed without the use of tools or wrenches. The base features our Quick-Tilt design that allows the base to tilt 0 to 45 degrees left or right with just a twist of the hand. The electronic variable speed allows the user to cut 0-2,200 strokes per-inch and when used in conjunction with one of the three different orbital settings this machine makes short work of any type of cut.

To round the kit out you have a full featured router that has all the features of a corded router in the flexibility of a cordless. Since it uses the same aluminum motor housing as the legendary 690 router it is full compatible with all the bases available for the 690 series router. It can be used as a plunge router with the optional 6931 base or as a D-handle router with the optional 6911 base. It performs so well it could also be mounted in a router table! The powerful 600-watt, 23,000 rpm motor handles most jobs that a 1-1/2 peak horsepower router can do. The long-life motor brushes are replaceable and the slide-in battery is positioned on top to put all of the weight directly over your work giving this unit exceptional balance. In addition, the spindle-lock feature and self-releasing 1/4-inch collet ease bit changes.

I have used just about every tool line that has come down the pike and Porter Cable is the only one that will hold up to everyday use. The 19.2 volt system is tops in my book and if you can plug in a charger the batteries will outlast any on the market. Maybe a little bit higher than some kits but you get what you pay for. I own each of the tools included in this set and find them to be rugged, excellent, and high performance items. They make their Dewalt counterparts look like playschool versions. I think the prices quoted on Amazon are way too high and you can do better by searching around the net.

I've not had any batteries go bad, and I own all the tools in the line. However, battery failure is a fact of life with all cordless tools; it's the price of the convenience.

I was considering purchasing this item until I saw the price! I though on most combo packs you're suppose to save a good chunk of money. But looking at the price of the three seperate items the savings is only $20.00. That's a shame because I think this is a great kit, But not for $699.00!
