Great compressor and design. Works well for inflating and small air tools. (impact, ratchet, grinder...) Quieter than expected and vertical design takes up less space than old horizontal model. Recommend over comparable models. Only concern for some may be the lack of a shroud around the motor and tubing which get very hot. Not an issue if compressor is located out of the way and longer hose used.

Having gone through 10+ compressors of different brands in the last 8 years, I can readily recommend this compressor. Don't make the mistake of purchasing a compressor with an inadequate tank size, as the motors on even the best brands will quickly burn out. This compressor outputs a consistantly high pressure, so you can operate tools such as nailers with predictably even pressure. It runs relatively quiet for a unit of this size, and the vertical tank makes draining the tank much easier than with hotdog or pancake type units.

Compressor arrived faster than expected, even with the free economy shipping. Item was well packaged and operated to spec pressure right out of the box but lost about 10-15 psi after siting for a week. Checking all fitings and tank drain valve for tightness seems to have taken care of the problem. The vertical shape is ideal for my small shop. At 2 hp/25 gal/7.5 scfm should provide all the air you will need for nailing/spray painting/etc. atDIY/homeowner/small shop levels. At over 100 lbs. I wouldn't consider it portable; might want to consider a smaller pancake unit if you do a lot of field installations. Keep in mind also that this unit does not come with an air hose. You'll have to buy one separately and don't forget the quick-release fitings.

This is a great compressor. It has all the power I need to run my small workshop tools. It is also much, much quieter than a PC pancake compressor. You can actually carry on a conversation without shouting while it is running. It is also a lot easier to move around than I expected. It is a little top heavy, but is light enough overall that it isn't a problem. I can even get it up and down stairs easily. The fit and finish was also nicely done with clean even welds and a nice powder coat paint job. I did a lot of research before buying this compressor and compared pricing, power, value, etc for everything from 80 gallon industrial models to 10 gallon gas powered. This won out for its price and feature set. It has exceeded my expectations, so I am a very happy customer. If you are looking for a solid compressor with impressive, but not unlimited, power that you can move around the shop, this is the one to buy.

Just to be clear, I've used it for an air hammer, brad nailer, frame nailer, 1/2" impact driver, socket wrench, dual sander and 3" die grinder. It had plenty of power and didn't bog down or kick on too often.

One thing that is neat about this model is that it will pressurize the hose while filling, allowing you to start working right away with a lot of the tools, especially nail guns and a tire inflator.

I have 3 different air compressors and this is the best I have it so far that allow me to complete the jobs from painting, wall texture spay...etc...
Solid build, it's heavy due to the size and much quiet than Pancake type. Thanks Amazon for the fast shipping and excellent service, this is the only site I'm coming back and forth for my purchases. Highly recommended.

I ordered this compressor based on the reputation of Porter Cable. I liked the output of it compared to other brands of the same size. It actually had higher output ratings than larger models of other brands. Unfortunately, my compressor arrived damaged. The flimsy cardboard box from the factory provided very little protection. The output tube from the motor to the tank was crushed, the cover on the motor was cracked and had a golf ball size hole in it, the head had a broken cooling fin, and the lower tank support was bent. I was looking forward to owning this compressor but I will be sending it back for a refund. I will not be ordering another one due to packaging. If you get one that is not damaged I am sure it would be a great compressor.
