This is a great product. The Honda Motor is reliable, quiet (relatively) and you get all of the power you will ever need. I guess they could have found a way that would not require changing the nozzles everytime you're looking to get more (or less) power with a different spray pattern. But on the other hand, it is nice to be able pick and choose and it takes less than 10 seconds. Came with 0°,10°,20°,30° and 40° nozzles (0° being the highest pressure). Nice feature that the detergent will not be mixed with any nozzle other than 40°. Setup time was 30 minutes and a beer. Filled up the oil (use a small siphon and a rag - kinda at a wierd angle), gas and go. Oh yeah, one thing is kinda strange I wish they had made the oil fill cap out of something other than plastic. Just be careful putting it back in. Could be easily striped putting it back in and then you are doing nothing until you replace it (I'm kind of a gorilla in than regard).Other than that, buy the Generac G24H it is the same thing and less expensive I paid just over $[money]

Don't Buy,

This review is from: Porter-Cable PCH2401 2,400 PSI @ 2.5 GPM 5 HP Honda Powered Pressure Washer (Lawn & Patio)
After using my 2401 power washer for ONLY three minutes, oil and water started puking from the pump oil fill; the motor quit running. After contacting Porter Cable, I was given the address of two places that "supposedly" work on this machine. I took it to the first place on their list. After three weeks, I went to get the washer. Then I was informed that they put a new seal kit in the pump, but the motor wouldn't start; they ONLY work on the pump, not the Honda motor. After driving 60 miles to a place that Porter Cable told me works on Honda motors, I'm informed that in fact, they don't; that Honda makes it too hard to be a service center. When I looked up this unit and the warranty, nothing was said about having separate warranties on the pump and the motor. All in all, I would NEVER, EVER buy something like this again........what a pain.

Even though it is really for the homeowner, we have used this washer in a commercial application, for a total of about 250 hours over a six month period. It was reliable and worked well. Plenty of power for anything you would do around the house. Recently the pressure has begun to drop off, so I'm thinking the pump is wearing out. If that is it's useful life, that would be fine for the average homeowner using it occasionally. We used it to wash down about 10,000 square feet of concrete every morning. Now I'm buying a bigger unit.

Porter-Cable PCH2401 Pressure Washer.Ordered 04/29/04. This was the third try at ordering a unit of this type from Amazon or Tool Crib. All three have been damaged prior to my receiving. As with the first two, this last shipping carton had been broken open and retaped (with UPS- yellow tape). The parts description manual was missing. Several phone calls and days later - got the booklet. The pressure unit was also damaged - missing paint and bent exhaust housing. Before attempting to start the unit, added oil into the engine as suggested - the pump instructions state that the compressor oil has already been added at the factory (so - this was not checked )- added gasoline. Motor would not run properly - skipping and emiting black smoke. Checked air filter and found it full of oil. (The packing box also had oil on the cardboard - inside the box.) Ultimately - after employing help - was determined that all the oil was gone from the compressor. It is becoming evident to me that someone in the transet system has a problem. When using standard trucking lines, which I do, handling damages - such as these - have not presented a concern. There - I've vented. My three star rating was for an overall experience. The Porter-Cable PCH2401 2,400 PSI @ 2.5 GPM 5 HP Honda Powered Pressure Washer appears to be an excellent unit - if properly handled in shipping.

Great product for your handy homeowner's tool arsenal! Any more pressure and you're talking serious commercial use. I am really happy with the way this unit pumps through concrete cleaner or a diluted detergent/disinfectant mix. The engine is strong and after inflating the tires to post shipping recommended pressure, it's easily moved around. When Spring gets here, I'll be spraying down the siding and shining things up!

no lemon here,
This review is from: Porter-Cable PCH2401 2,400 PSI @ 2.5 GPM 5 HP Honda Powered Pressure Washer (Lawn & Patio)
Most of the reviews I read regarding porter cables model 2401 sugested it was junk. I found exactly the opposite. Mine works like a champ all parts were in the box, instructions were clear and concise, I have no complaints. However I know that thereare lemons out there, and I believe that most of the reviews written about products are from dissatisfied buyers, therefore these reviews dont mean a hoot. Im sure there are alot more happy buyers than not. Sorry to you guys that got a lemon, or just dont have any mechanical ability better luck next time

BOUGHT THIS PRESSURE WASHER ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND IM VERY HAPPY WITH IT. THE QUALITY IS OUTSTANDING AS IS THE PERFORMANCE. PERFECT MACHINE FOR DOING THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE. SMALL, PRETTY LIGHT, AND YET POWERFUL ENOUGH TO DO PRETTY MUCH WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO. I CLEANED MY DECK WITH IT AND IT DID THE JOB EASILY AND VERY WELL. ITS PRETTY QUIET TOO, ALTHOUGH I DO PUT IN EAR PLUGS...IT CAN GET PRETTY ANNOYING IF YOU USE IT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE, ITS A GOOD ONE.

I RECENTLY ORDERED THIS ITEM, I STILL DONT KNOW HOW GOOD IT IS, THE REST OF THE REVIEWS SAY IT IS A GOOD PRESSURE WASHER, SO I ASSUME IT IS. BUT THE REVIEW I HAVE IS (DON'T ORDER IT FROM AMAZON), I HAVE HAD THIS ITEM FOR SEVEN DAYS SO FAR, AND HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH AMAZON ABOUT MISSING PARTS, AND STILL DON'T KNOW ANYMORE THAN I DID WHEN I OPENED THE BOX AND SEEN THEY WHERE MISSING.I CAN'T GIVE YOU A RATING ON THE PRESSURE WASHER ITS SELF BECAUSE I'M NOT ABLE TO USE IT, BUT THE RATING I WILL GIVE ON THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE FROM 1 TO 5 IS A FLAT OUT 0

If they put that I am a home improvement enthusiast they don't know me! I'd much rather be playing golf!!! Purchased 2400 psi today! 1st. could not find the handle bolts (they were fastened together with the nuts I needed to mount hose carrier...didn't realize this and it cost me a trip to hardware store. 2nd. Wish my 8 year granddaughter had been helping as her hand would have been small enough to get the oil cap off! Everything else went fine until....3rd. I tried to start the engine. Following directions I quickly discovered that there was no trottle adjustment!(no rabbit, no turtle). Took entire machine back to farm supply store where I bought it. They (2 salesmen) could not find a throttle adjustment and finally told me to take another washer. I opened another box..guess what...no throttle adjustment. Another salesman happedned to stop by...He stated that these here new fangled Honda engine didn't have a throttle adjustment, it would adjust itself when more power was needed. I asked how the engine would know it needed more power and the fellow stated "Idonknow". Leaving skeptically I returned home and hooked up everything and started engine on 3rd pull. Great!! But, engine was running very slow, tried wand, very little pressure. Finally found thottle adjustment screw and adjusted screw (tighter) and engine reved. Put on 0 degree tip and tried to remove some paint from metal. Shoot! My old electric 1300 psi Coleman does an equal if not better job. Quit for today! Tried to coil hose up to put in carrier...nothing but kinks, so I just wrapped the hose up the best I could and tried to hang on carrier, it fell off! Heck with it! Tried to remove my hose from unit...didn't buy a quick connect like booklet says. 15-20 minutes later got hose disconnected. Put unit in garage. Picked up box....IT WAS THEN I DISCOVERED A ONE PAGE INSERT STATING THAT I SHOULD IGNORE 2 STEPS (dealing with the starting of the engine) It does not say there is NO throttle adjustment, but to ignore these 2 steps. Went into house and read big manual...states that some engines have throttle control, some have remote throttle control (I guess mine is so remote that it is somewhere between here and Japan. To think...I bought this thing for the Honda engine. Well, that is all I have to say about this. Going to look up 5 hp Honda engines without throttle control! If it doesn't get better tommorrow...it's back to the store for a trade...One washer unit for my money back!
