Great little pencil. Although it is targeted for fabric, I use it on dark paper to mark my calligraphy lines.
Would be great for dark envelope addressing (guide lines). Erases easily with no residue, too.

This is such a great pen. I highly recommend this to any quilter. The marks don't "disappear" as with some pens, and they don't get larger and larger as you use it, making sharpening a constant thing after a few lines. This keeps it's line very fine. Once you sew over it, it's gone. I bought 2 of these pens and the refills, one with the dark and one with the white. I just love these !!

Great service. But my review goes for the quality. Bought this pen plus the black refills. Totally destroyed the fabric for the quilt I am making for my first grandson. I am so dissapointed! I have washed the fabric and the ink just does not go away!

Finally, I have found a pencil that marks on fabric easily, without pressing and it shows up very clearly, with a nice fine line. I have been living in the dark ages, I guess, because I have been using a white "led" pencil from a fabric store made by Eagle that is made of some sort of waxy substance and it does a terrible job of marking on fabric. I need this Fons and Porter pencil for marking the lines for buttonhole placement on garments. Yes, that's right, I do not have a machine that automatically goes through all four steps to complete a buttonhole. So I must see the line to know when to stop and sew up the other side of the buttonhole. Being able to see the mark under the presser foot is a must. Now I can. I'm a very happy camper with this little tool that has made my sewing much easier.

If you're using dark fabric, a regular pencil won't show up to mark the quilting lines, of course, and this white fabric pencil does the trick well. The lead is soft enough to show up without too much pressure, but not so chalky as to disappear while you're quilting.

This pencil works great. The marks are nice and sharp. It erases much better than the Sewline Mechanical Fabric Pencil Pink version. However, this doesn't feel as good as the Sewline version in my hand. I also wish it came in more colors. You'll never want to use a plain marking pencil again.

Pencil has a nice weight to it, very comfortable in the hand. Have contemplated getting one just to write with. The white "lead" shows up well on dark fabrics and does not require multiple passes to see. One swipe of normal writing pressure is sufficient. Better than many others I've tried. I think the included pack of leads will last a long time.
