Beautiful photographs, a big help., August 12, 2000

This review is from: A Portfolio of Lighting Ideas (Paperback)
This book is a really good visual image to use when exploring lighting techniques. It was very helpful in distinguishing between types of lighting and ways in which to use them. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to make a statement with lighting. The large, colorful photos are a great added touch.

A Feast for the Eyes, November 25, 2008
This review is from: A Portfolio of Lighting Ideas (Paperback)
No doubt lighting is a most unappreciated element of interior design.
Living spaces can be transformed by the proper application of light. And decorative fixtures can become signature pieces creating focal points in the room.
This book tells how.
The author takes us through both the functional and the decorative aspects of lighting. Ambient, accent, task, outdoor and decorative lighting are all explored in depth as we learn to specify lighting consistent with the purpose of a particular room. Beautiful photography complements the text, illustrating the principles and drawing the reader into the creative process.
There is also a Portfolio of Lights, highlighting examples of many different fixtures, as well as the Portfolio of Lighting Ideas, showcasing applications in a variety of room settings.
All in all this book is the rare combination of facts and fun. Even if you can't afford one of the gorgeous featured Schonbek crystal chandeliers, you'll come away with a lot of ideas, knowledge, and the enthusiasm to use lighting in new and different ways in your home.
