About the Author

PORTLANDIA is an absurd and dreamy rendering of Portland, Oregon starring SNL alum Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein (vocalist/guitarist, Sleater-Kinney). The show both celebrates and satirizes the city of Portland—but always with affection. Fred and Carrie appear as a variety of Portland citizens including a militant biker, members of an adult hide-and-seek league, self-righteous feminist bookstore owners, and extreme outdoor enthusiasts.

PORTLANDIA was awarded a 2012 Peabody Award and has been nominated for multiple Emmys, including Outstanding Directing and Writing for a Variety Series. It was the 2013 winner of the Writers Guild Award for Outstanding Achievement in Writing Comedy/Variety Series. Fred and Carrie co-created PORTLANDIA with fellow writer Jonathan Krisel, who also directs the show. The series is Executive Produced by Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer of Broadway Video Television. It is filmed entirely on location in Portland, Oregon.

I laughed. I cried. It was better than "Cats." I would read it again and again. Oh and I wish I could give this book 10 stars.

Ok now I've balanced out the "review" by the moron who said he read and hated the book, which makes perfect sense because he hates the TV show. Uh, so he bought the book?

Nothing else to see here. Move along.

This is a book.
Associated with a very funny show created by 2 (plus Jonathan Krisel) extremely funny people.
The book is not the show but it is spiral bound AND, if you look at the cover, they put a bird on it.
So how can you go wrong?

Let me just start by stating, that I LOVE this book. You can definitely tell that a lot of thought went into it's making. It was much more than I expected, and I haven't even read the whole thing yet...........mainly because I don't want it to end! The construction of the book is beautifully done, and I think Carrie, Fred, and Jonathon did a fabulous job. Their vision of Portland is spot on, and when I think of Portland, I can't stop laughing!!!

This book builds on all the wonderful quirky little in-jokes about hipster society without repeating anything from the show itself. I was laughing so hard at one point, the people around me started looking concerned.

Do you like repetition and terrible writing? Does finding a dead horse and beating it to death amuse you? Are you a fan of blog-comedy from 8 years ago? Then you'll probably like this awful book.

Wasteful, stupid and somehow even more loathsome than the horrible TV show.
