This is an absolutely beautiful dish. I bought it to store my butter, but when I received it, I was surprised by its size (looks like it will hold MORE than a pound of butter).

Since we're a small family, I find it a little too large for an everyday butter dish, so I've converted mine to a desktop dish (to hold my cache of postage stamps). It's a great addition to my office decor and would also make a wonderful jewelry cask. The design is very beautiful and finely detailed; porcelain is of excellent quality. But not so great for butter storage unless you are a large family....

Update 1/16/12: I now use mine as a tea cask; it's the perfect size for holding an opened box of individually wrapped tea bags like these: Yogi Green Tea Super Antioxidant, Herbal Tea Supplement, 16-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6). Just lay the bags flat in the box (2 stacks). Lovely!

I am not a person that usually takes such pleasure in a dish. I look for functionality, ease of use, and quality.

In this butter dish, all the needs I usually have for any item I purchase is met, along with the sheer joy of such a beautiful piece of china.

The size is large, holds two 1/2 cup sticks of butter. I didn't know if I would like having sides on the bottom of a butter dish, but it works well.

I highly recommend this dish to anyone looking for a butter dish. Whether you have a large or small family, the dish should meet your needs.

I am a big fan of toile prints and country stylings in my house, so when I was in the market for a butter dish, I was really excited to see this option. The Botanic Blue Butter Dish is even prettier in person, adding a bit of elegance between the milk cartons and eggs. My only complaint is that the atypical shape, with the lid on top, can make it a little harder to get at the butter. Honestly though, it's so lovely, it's worth it, especially to put out for a special dinner occasion. Sure to get compliments.

I searched high and low for a butter dish to hold the Irish butter that we buy at the local supermarket (it is wider than American sticks of butter). This dish is a fantastic value when compared to the few other options I found on the internet. No hesitations recommending this.

I've always disliked butter dishes because the cover always seems to end up catching butter on the outside which then ends up on the counter when taken off. This dish eliminates that problem. It can hold about 3 sticks of butter without touching the cover; this may seem like a lot of extra space for just one stick users but who cares? I'm constantly throwing in the extra bits of sticks that I don't use in a recipe! What a great way to store all those extra pieces!

I bought this dish several weeks ago and have been extremely pleased with it. We go through alot of butter and it easily holds two sticks. We leave it on the counter and each stick gets used up within a week for cooking, baking, toast, etc. I've been doing this for years but finally decided I needed to look for a bigger butter dish and found this one. This dish is beautiful and I don't have to worry about placing the lid on the counter and leaving butter marks like with conventional butter dish lids.

I received the sugar bowl, creamer, and butter dish today. I love them all! I believe that this butter dish is the most unusual I have ever seen. However, it will certainly be helpful in keeping the butter in the dish, and one would never have to worry about butter around the edges of the dish. Also, there is room for more than one stick of butter.

I think this dinnerware--with it's beautiful pattern--could be used for casual lunches or more formal dinners.

I read a few reviews where customers complained about the packaging. I thought the merchandise was packed securely, and everything was intact when I received my package.

My husband doesn't like flowery "feminine" dishes, but he likes these, and I think they are feminine...yet with the color blue, and the butterflies, this helps offset too much femininity for men who prefer other patterns. I want to have all the dishes, and will enjoy having dinner guests using this dinnerware. It's very nice, but arrived broken with insufficient packing. Second one arrived just fine. I like it very much.

This butter dish is beautiful. I use it daily and it is a lovely enhancement to my kitchen counter. You can't beat this price.
