Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Inspired by 19th-century botanical illustrations, Portmeirion Botanic Garden dinnerware features a lush array of hand-painted blossoms and butterflies. The pieces are perfect for a mix-and-match sensibility and suitable for year-round dining. Made in Britain from high-quality porcelain, they are safe in the oven, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher.

Clusters of daisies enliven the straight sides of this drum-shape Botanic Garden sugar bowl. A good shape for cubes or loose sugar, the piece is capacious and friendly looking, a pleasing presence at the breakfast bar or dinner table. The flat lid, wreathed in laurel leaves, features a dimpled finial and nestles securely into place. Standing 3-1/4 inches high, the bowl measures 3-1/4 inches in diameter. A coordinating drum-style creamer is also available. --Emily Bedard

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely sugar bowl but a little caution is needed...., December 22, 2008

This is my second drum-shaped sugar bowl. I love all of my Portmeirion Botanic Garden pieces, but I seem to be a bit clumsy with the lids for this sugar bowl! The little handle/knob on top is handy (that is why I chose it over the more rounded bowl) but the lip of the lid is relatively shallow and the lid can be dislodge without too much difficulty. I managed to knock the first lid off and shatter it. During use the second lid has chipped enough to be noticeable, but not to affect use. If you have small children you may wish to leave the lid off if only for your peace of mind! When cost of shipping is added on, it is less expensive to replace the entire set than to just purchase a replacement lid!

We actually use this for margarine. It keeps it fresh and looks great on the table. I would recommend buying this product. It is dishwasher safer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different but Just Great, August 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Portmeirion Botanic Garden Drum-Shaped Covered Sugar Bowl (Kitchen)
I ordered this drum-shaped covered sugar bowl to replace one that my Wife broke the lid on. From the pictures on Amazon, I thought it was an identical match to the one that was broken but when we received it, we found that it is slightly (only slightly) smaller than our original. It is exactly what was advertised by Amazon but I jumped to the conclusion that they would be the same and they aren't - it is no big deal, my Wife is very happy with the new one but it was a surprise that they were so close to each other and both from the Portmerion Botanic Garden collection. We are happy!
