This set of six 8-1/2-inch pasta bowls features an assortment of the 28 hand-painted floral motifs that make up the Botanic Garden collection. Lilac, hyacinths, azaleas, and many other typical English garden flowers stand out boldly against a glazed white background, surrounded by a border of small green leaves. These versatile bowls are also ideal for serving soup, cereal, stews, or desserts.

More than 30 years ago the founder of Portmeirion Potteries was inspired by 19th-century botanical illustrations to create the Botanic Garden collection of tableware and cookware. Each piece is crafted from fine glazed earthenware and features highly detailed floral designs complemented by a simple border of green leaves to give the collection a coordinated look. I ordered these for my mother and they came in perfect condition. An earlier review scared me off a little originally, as they said the bowls showed up broken. I had no such problem, and the bowls themselves are beautiful and very useful - I use them for salads as well as pasta.

I am very pleased with these bowls. They are perfect for all sorts of things that the teeny, weeny bowls that come with a service of this china are too small to accomplish (must be a European thing.) The bowls are a nice size for tossed salad, soup, stew or pasta (of course.) They are very pretty and arrived extremely well packed with not a scratch on them.
