Portmeirion A Christmas Story Covered Butter Dish

beautiful addition to our christmas table. received many compliments on this. several people thought it was passed down from another generation......just the look i was going for and just what i intend to do with it

(I tried posting this review once, but it did not work. Then I came back and saw that it said "kid's review." So, I guess I will try one more time)

I ordered this butter dish to use for our family Christmas dinner. It is the first piece of Portmeirion I have purchased.


The dish is sturdy, heavy, and well-made. There is a ridge on the bottom piece that keeps the butter in place. I really like this part of the design as my grandmother had a dish without a ridge and with would get quite messy.

The design in charming with clear details. On the bottom piece it reads "Now, dash away, dash away...dash away all!" I love it. "Twas The Night Before Christmas" is a family favorite poem and this is the perfect piece to add to our Christmas collection.

The dish came well packaged with the individual pieces divided by cardboard. Each piece also fits snuggly into the box so there is no sliding.

I am extremely pleased with this butter dish and plan to add more pieces of Portmeirion dinnerware to my collection. I have received many compliments on it and would definitely buy it again and give as a gift to others.
