i first got into bleeding through after i heard lost in a hail of gunfire. after hearing the song i went out and got this is love, this is murerderous and thought they killed it! but after listening to the record it all started to sound the same with a few tracks that really stood out to me, i was really reluctant to pick up portrait but when i did i fell in love with this band again! this album is way better than this is love, i just can't stop listening to it. but this group has a lot of promise and they seem to only keep getting better because the truth kills everything! i can't decide which is better though the truth or portrait. the truth musically is brutal but i could have done with out all the clean vocals and the only slow track that's on it, but the keyboards and drums kill! anyways, promising band.

Bleeding Through-Portrait Of The Goddess ****
Portrait Of The Goddess is your factory made metalcore album. Nothing truly original or mind blowing, just heavy as hell metal. Low tuned, fast riffing guitars, one note bass, keyboard interludes, blast beats, and a lot of screams. Basically the formula for a basic metalcore album...or Portrait Of A Goddess. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the album. It is good, no make that great at what it is. It is a solid album with no weak points what so ever. But because of the lack of originality giving it a five star rating would be a little bit of a stretch. So while not a metal classic, Portrait Of The Goddess is a solid album worthy of any metal collection.

One of the best metalcore albums ive heard. Really heavy chugging guitars, harsh screamed vocals mixed with an occasional clean part, and fast aggressive drumming.
The ringout at the end of the Saviour Saint Salvation instrumental gives me a huge [...] Im pretty much sick of the whole overplayed metalcore genre but this album i still always come back to. Its not particularly innovative or unique (some may argue its generic), but the songs are well written, and relatively catchy, and the breakdowns will make you destroy. This band is blowing up at the moment and its good to see them still playing cuts of this album when they play live as this is much better then This is Love... Recommended if you like moshy chugging metalcore

bleeding through i would say is my favorite band as of this moment. This cd is perfect for the true hardcore/metal fan. It brings intensity with unbelievable drumming by derek youngsma, great guitar playing by scott and brian, melodic keyboards, and brandan's raspy death defying voice to sum up the phenomenon known as bleeding through.

While Bleeding Throughs Portrait Of A Godess doesnt add much new to the table, it is still a very good album. I would definetely recommend this instead of This Is Love This Is Murderous. TILTIM is a pretty generic and boring album. True, Bleeding Through are your typical metalcore band, but they play their music with more passion, fury, aggression and energy than most of them out there. The musicianship is pretty good, especially the drumming. The keyboards in this CD are also pretty interesting. The keyboardist Marta doesnt play anything hard or complicated, but she does add a different element to the music. The highlight tracks here are "Rise" and "Portrait Of A Goddess", two of the most aggressive metalcore songs that youll ever hear. Recommended

One of the best bands out there!!!,
By A Customer

Bleeding Through is one of the best bands out there. Although most of their band members decend form Hardcore bands (like Eighteen Visions and Taken), Bleeding Through is more than a hardcore band. Infact I wouldn't even concider them hardcore. I've seen them and heard about them playing with such hardcore acts such as Hatebreed, Throwdown, Eighteen Visions, etc. When they should realy go on tours with even better acts such as In Flames, Soilwork, Killswitch Engaged, Shadows Fall, Dark Tranquility, Arch Enemy, and even Chimaira who style has been changing. Bleeding Through is more than just a heavy riffs and breakdowns band, they deserve to be viewd as much more than that. Bleeding Through is a band that is helping pave the way for an already existing metal genre who truly deserves more and better recognition than these simple almost nu-metal bands. Hopefully they won't disapoint us in the future.

let me just say that this is just one of the best investments you can make. its too bad that these guys dont get much credit because they are one of the best metal bands i have heard in a looong time. dont even second guess it, just get this cd, period. "turns cold to the touch" is one of the best songs i have heard.

There are not enough adjectives in the english language that can describe this masterpiece of music. The more times I listen to this album the more I like it and never get bored of it. The best tracks on this album are Our Enemies and Ill pt.2. All of the songs are good though don't get me wrong. The drumming is outstanding and the guitars are just so incredibly heavy. The vocals just express all the anger that this person just needs to get out and it shows. The samples don't give the songs justice. You just have to buy the album to see what I'm talking about. This is one of the best bands out there at the moment. I also heard that This is love, This is Murderous, their next album, is even better and that comes out sept. 23 so order that album also and support these guys.

Where most bands whine screech along with played out melodies and rhythms, BT has risen above them all. "Dust to Ashes" (this first album I heard) made me smile and seeing the violence live made it alot better. T.L.T.M. mixes the intensity of Cannibal Corpse with the song writing of Porcupine Tree on downers and alcohol. And this amaziing album is no different. This band is alot more straight forward in anger and aggression than most other bands. To me there's no way you can praise this band enough, their song structures, lyrics and even the sheer talent of their instrument playing blows all this radio garbage (korn, slipknot, metallica) into the realms of boybands and pop music. They seem to be getting somewhat popular now though, but they will always be the hero's of the Underground to me. All you hot topic fans need to go listen to some emo and not compare it to real death/hardcore metal, or at least see these guys in concert and mosh for awhile, get those black wire rimmed glass knocked off of your head (that'll give you something to stare at your shoes and cry about). This is most violent show I've seen right next to Cradle of Filth, Cannibal Corpse or Origin.
