5.0 out of 5 stars Deep, Dark, But Brilliant.
Yuki Kajiura at her best. If you have seen the DVD this soundtrack is for, you will know what I'm on about, and why she is one of the top composers of anime sound tracks in Japan, and the world. If you own the DVD, you must own this OST CD. If you don't own the DVD, or you haven't seen the anime, WHY NOT? This is yet another one you should see before you die.

3.0 out of 5 stars What kind of soundtrack doesn't include all the music?
Petite Cossette is some of Yuki Kajiura's most interesting work. Dark, mysterious, suspensful, it has it all. However, they did not include Ballad on the CD, and it is one of the most beautiful and important songs in the show, hence the removal of two stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars My hands down favorite!, February 7, 2011
This review is from: Le Portrait de Petite Cossette (Audio CD)
This OST is hands down my favorite anime soundtrack. The songs have such a richly dark feel that constantly amazes me and keeps me coming back for more. I love to listen to this OST wearing headphones and lying down in a dark room so I can focus on every note, especially on the song Float which floors me every single time. ^-^

5.0 out of 5 stars For All Fans of Music, August 26, 2009
This review is from: Le Portrait de Petite Cossette (Audio CD)
Don't let the label of soundtrack throw you off, this is a must have CD for anyone who loves classical music with a touch of modern.
The tracks range from light and almost dancelike, such as Fake Jewel, to terrifying such as Petit Cossette and Love Pain.
Marina Inoue also does a fantastic job on the vocals for Houseki (Jewel) giving the CD a fitting end for such a beautiful CD.
This is a CD that one can listen to for hours upon end and still be awed by how wonderfully it all works together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal!, January 23, 2009

This review is from: Le Portrait de Petite Cossette (Audio CD)
The soundtrack to Le Potrait de Petite Cossette is modern, dark, and beautiful in all of the right ways. The Main Theme recurs throughout the entire series. Then a few of the tracks only get a small snippet of time to be heard. The last track is the ending theme Jewel, or "Houseki", which was really performed by Marina Inuoe. Consequently, it ties itself to a track called "Fake Jewel". Telling what happens here could ruin the story for some, so I won't say much else.

This soundtrack would be fully perfect if only it included "Ballad" from the third and final episode, also performed by Marine Inoue. If anyone who reads this knows where to find it, that would be awesome...

Many of the tracks use choir, string instruments, and piano. Most of the tracks also carry a modern touch in the sense that synthetic beats and chords were also used. The album makes for good background music, but some of the tracks are a little intense at times.

The anime itself is an occasional viewing, but the soundtrack really sets itself apart from the rest of the crowd!
