Editorial Reviews

This colorful look back at the pop music world of 1969, filmed in Paris, London, Geneva, New York and Los Angeles, includes Clark performing her worldwide smash hits I Know a Place and My Love. In addition, she offers enchanting renditions of This Girl's in Love With You, My Funny Valentine, When I Was a Child, Mademoiselle de Paris and the beautiful ballad You and I, from the motion picture Goodbye, Mr. Chips.

Crooner Andy Williams duets with Clark on the lovely Visions of Sugar Plums and the playful You Can't Rollerskate in a Buffalo Herd, written by Roger Miller. Williams also sings Happy Heart, a hit for both him and Clark. French vocalist Sacha Distel performs Love is Blue and joins Clark and Williams for The Poor People of Paris. British actor Ron Moody appears as his character Fagin from the film Oliver and teams with Clark for song and dance.

Portrait of Petula Clark is presented in full screen with an aspect ratio of 4 x 3. Special bonus material includes Clark singing her hit version of Walk Through the World With Me and Without A Song, as well as contemporary interviews with Clark and Williams.

5.0 out of 5 stars Portrait of Petula Clark January 16, 2009
As with most Petula Clark tv shows, this was more than just a tv special------the production values here were flawless and showcased the singer better than most tv shows of that date.

4.0 out of 5 stars England's Own Petula Clark December 3, 2012
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This was a recording of an NBC television special in which Petula invited her guests Andy Williams, French vocalist Sache Distel and English actor Ron Moody. This portrait gives us some of who and what Petula is in life. We are treated to some songs from Petula, Andy and Sache; a comedy skit of Ron Moody reprising his role in the movie "Oliver," and some skits in involving Petula and Andy and one with Petula, Andy and Sache. One even gets treated with some of her home life and daughters.Portrait of Petula Clark

I ran across this live special by Pet Clark by accident and I am so glad I did. It is professionally recorded so the sound and video are excellent. If you like the old sounds, this one is a must.
