Implacably dumb,

Whoever wrote this, or at least translated it has no feeling for biography, music, or even organized information. The photos are a jumble of eras, sometimes totally irrelevant (such as two enormous photos of opera productions that have nothing to do with Mascagni's work at all--why? and why the largest photos in the book?) The logic is totally missing - no continuity, and simply wrongly stated facts, such as Pasi averring that "Isabeau" was based on a work by D'Annunzio - and then illustrates it with a picture of D'Annunzio, after correctly saying it was a libretto by Illica.Don't bother! So many other books are much better. Read Alan Mallach's book instead.
