5.0 out of 5 stars Provocative study of one of history's intriguing women, December 25, 1998

This review is from: Portraits of Livia: Imaging the Imperial Woman in Augustan Rome (Hardcover)
Gender wars in ancient Rome! I never thought that I'd find an academic book that the layperson could read and enjoy. If only Hillary Clinton had read this book before she became first lady. Impressive scholarship, lavishly illustrated.
