This is a gorgeous book for anyone interested in the the flaura and fauna of the Sonoran desert, with specific habitats from the desert floor to riparian to working its way up the climate zones of the higher mountains. I particularly love the artwork in its attention to detail and because it is ART. While this is not a field guide you could conceive to take with you on a hike - its big and heavy - it is a great coffee table book, that will have your guests turning the pages. The artist (Roy Purcell) has a studio & gallery in Tubac, AZ which is well worth a visit if you love nature brought to life on canvas.
