I have enjoyed most of Jean's quilting books, especially her garden inspired ones. This book is no exception. I love the idea of these little quils to make bigger wall hangings, and wall art. Her directions are wonderful as always. These little art quilts make wonderful great gifts. I am finishing one for a wedding present. Can't wait to make the tree quilt for my home. I could not put this book down from the moment it arrived!!

I really like this book. I don't actually make quilts or wall hangings. I make tote bags and clothing. I like the idea of taking one simple item like a flower, appliquéing it to a piece of fabric and putting a border around it to make a picture. Put a few small pictures together and it looks complete. Each picture is very simple. I used this concept for wool appliqué and it worked great. Her patterns are simple and she explains how she uses drawings, sketches or snapshots to make her patterns and explains how you can do the same. There are quite a few patterns included in the book. She includes some instructions on free-motion quilting. I like the little portraits just as well with out the free-motion quilting. The book includes a lot of pictures to give you ideas. The idea of the little portraits is a little different, cute and very easy.

I am new to machine applique and have enjoyed picking up the ideas from the book. It is a good starter book. Just leaf through the book and you come up with even more imaginative flowers and insects on your own. I loved making a blue sunflower and yellow thistle. Have fun!

I purchased this book when I decided I would like to try applique. I wanted small projects to give me some insight into what looks good and how to go about it.
The instructions were particularly helpful for a beginner like I was. The patterns in the back of the book are traced onto paperbacked adhesive and when ironed on; stay put while you stitch. Dorothy

I viewed a video of a couple of projects made from this book. The author was the person doing the demonstrations. I was very interested in seeing what else the book had to offer. As I consider myself an art quilter, I thought this book would give me the information I wanted for future projects. I reviewed the book as soon as I received it and it doesn't disappoint.
