4.0 out of 5 stars Where has this band been hiding???
What a really good CD from a band that's been around for a while. They have released three other CD's but this is a release of older materil from the early 90's. There are some amazing cuts off of this one. Are They Over Now and the title track, Portraits Of Thought are amazing songs that have a bit of everything. The songs border on melodic rock with progressive elements...

1.0 out of 5 stars Lydian Sea: Portraits of Thought
I had an opportunity to pick up this cd recently in my search for more prog related music. Unfortunately this cd is awful!
The music is trite and uninspired. The vocalist has a voice that is more annoying than not and the musicianship is nothing to write home about.
I have seen references to Dream Theater and the like and wonder what drugs the people who made...

What a really good CD from a band that's been around for a while. They have released three other CD's but this is a release of older materil from the early 90's. There are some amazing cuts off of this one. Are They Over Now and the title track, Portraits Of Thought are amazing songs that have a bit of everything. The songs border on melodic rock with progressive elements simmering over all the music. This CD has harmonies all ove the place. Fans of Journey will really appreciate this element of the band. They are not pop like Jouney but a harder edged Journey meets Dokken, Kings X, Vanden Plas and Winger.
Very good production and the the players are all very tight. Worth a listen if your looking for a undiscovered band that came out at the wrong time but warrants recognition

I have seen references to Dream Theater and the like and wonder what drugs the people who made such references were on. This IS NOT quality music nor does it approach anything like DT or their ilk. Boring and insipid OLD rock.
Avoid at all costs!!!!!
