Customer Reviews

Transferred audio ok but......color didn't come through and picture was grainy.

It comes with a USB cable if you have a USB handy to draw power from, but if you don't then you need an AC to USB converter to provide a power source to the converter.
Tuna Boy
I used it to connect a new Sony Bluray player to an old Samsung TV that still works just fine.

This item works great on my new blue ray player it converts a great picture and works just as expected! Just be aware if you use it for the first time and your picture is black and white be sure to check the switch on the converter itself. Switch it and the color will appear

Bought a new blue ray player and didn't notice it only had HDMI output. This little box saved the day.

I wish it had a switch to change the output from 16x9 to 4x3. On a 4x3 TV, it appears to squish the picture a little, making it appear tall and narrow but also cuts off the edges. But it works well for watching laptop content on big screen

I had eagerly waited for this to come in the mail so i could finally buy a PS4. It came in yesterday afternoon and so I tried it out on my PS3 and it worked flawlessly. When I woke up this morning and turned on my PS3, and my tv said "No Input". I've tried unplugging everything and nothing seems to work. It isn't reading the signals and it's incredibly frustrating considering how long I've waited to finally get a PS4 and how long it took for this to come in the mail.

I've been using this for a month or so to send a signal from my Samsung Wi-Fi blu-ray player to an old tube-TV from the 90's, mainly so that I can watch Netflix. Works the same with or without the USB power supply.

Only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because it has one glitch. After playing for about 5 minutes of the Blu Ray player being on, It very predictably transmits in black and white for about 15-20 seconds, then goes back to color. Haven't been able to figure out why, but it happens the exact same way every time. It's never for longer than 20 seconds, and it never happens more than once per movie or "power-on". Other than that it works like a charm.

When I travel, I find that hotels and conference spaces often have older equipment that isn't set up for the HDMI output of my latest laptop. I used this recently to hook up to my room TV in a hotel. I had to play with the resolution from the laptop end, but after that the signal was clear.

I have a ton of really long RCA cables, but really long HDMI cables are pretty pricey this box gives me the ability to work from the other side of the room with cables I already own.

It works ok. But what I received does not match the picture shown. Mine had a white colored housing unit instead of black. After four hours of usage spread out over the course of two days, one corner of the unit started turning black, which is a sign of the unit overheating and the plastic melting. I plan on facing a fan towards it and will take the risk it doesn't burn out my computer, which I am connecting it to. I guess it is good I didn't get the black housing for this product. Otherwise, I wouldn't have noticed the plastic burning and turning black.

And yes, it does require a separate power cable if you don't want to or can't use the included USB cable that can also power it via a computer or don't have an adapter for it, which I'm sure many people do. Fortunately, I had a spare USB charger from an old cell phone that connects to an electrical outlet. This product didn't even come in a box. It was wrapped in bubble wrap and put in a tiny plastic zip lock bag. I guess it saves money but makes it look cheap. Then again, considering that the plastic housing is already melting and it doesn't come with a proper power cable, it doesn't just look cheap, it is cheap, in the shoddy sense of the word.

I hope I can at least get several months of use out of it before it dies on me.
