3.0 out of 5 stars
My first "gourmet sardine"!,

This review is from: Portuguese Sardines - Skinless and Boneless in Olive Oil (3.6 ounce) by igourmet.com (Misc.)
This brand won a "taste off" of canned sardines on some food web site I recently visited, so as a budding sardine connoisseur I just had to try them.
When I opened the can I saw what gave me the impression of a quality and carefully packaged product. The sardines tasted a bit more mellow than some I've had; quite good actually. And, there was a genuine hot chili pepper hiding between two of the fish! So, why only three stars? Well, the price is why! These cost about twice what even the better "non gourmet" brands cost, plus shipping, and it's not like I was transported to some different sardine planet. They were just good, well presented sardines. The Matiz Gallego Sardines in Olive Oil are comparable (sans chili-pepper) and they are far far less expensive. Well, so much for dabbling in the world of "gourmet sardines". Back to the low brow stuff for me!
