I really enjoyed reviewing "Poser 7 Essential Training" by animation specialist Larry Mitchell. This course, along with many others, can be found on lynda.com. Lynda.com is a wonderful source for in-depth online training in a variety of software applications. I found the Poser 7 training course by Larry Mitchell to be a detailed course which covers most all of the features of Poser in general as well as the new features in this latest Version 7 release. The course takes you from using the basic interface of the program, through lights, cameras, posing, animation and much more. Larry leaves nothing to guesswork and instructs the new user on the tools and different rooms in Poser 7 as well as animation. This training will benefit those new to the application as well as those upgrading from an earlier version. Larry also provides you with exercise files that will aid you in completing the tutorials. This course includes 5.45 hours of total learning experience covering fifteen sections not including an introduction and a conclusion. Within each section there are sub sections taking you through each phase of that topic or module. All in all besides the introduction and conclusion you will find 75 video tutorials instructing you in every phase of learning. In 1994, while traveling to Tokyo, Japan to lecture to Japan s top 3 technical institutes on 3D animation and advanced virtual reality design, I began development on a process through which cartoons could be made without the need for drawing. This process is now available in most 3D applications as 'Cell Shading'. The white paper on this process was submitted to ACM SIGGRAPH's 1995 "Panels and Papers" by my development partner (Mitsuru Kaneko) and I.

I know that nothing is perfect, but this training content is so far the best. It covers most of the items/topics used in Poser. He uses many examples, and it is easy to understand. The price might be a little bit high, but I would rather pay for something that I want to learn. Highly recommended.

This is a great dvd for getting the hang of Poser 7 for those who are new like me.I also have the books for Poser 7 but I do better with a hands on type of learning, but with both you can learn from the dvd and later you can read up on anything from the books that you have a question on. Plus it comes with a 2nd dvd with execercise files on it. All in all it's a great investment for those who are serious about Poser and how it can you can use the knowledge from this dvd to express yourself as an artist...... graphics, illustrator, or even photography can be incorporated into poser.

Talks about Poser 7 but shows Poser 6 screens,

I have to agree with the previous reviewer in the amount of material covered but for the price that I paid I would have liked the screens to be in Poser 7 and not in Poser 6. It also seems that the cartoon figures were dropped from Poser 7 but had several minutes within these tutorials. If this was really Poser 7 than why not show Poser 7 items.I contacted the publisher and they said that they used a beta version to produce this tutorial which means that they were actually writing a tutorial for version 6+. The figures from version 6 were used since they didn't know what figures came with version 7. There were no plans to update this product to include references to the version 7 figures (I guess that we'll have to wait for their Poser Pro tutorial for the Poser 7 figures). If I knew this I would have lower the review by at least 1 star. ***
