Greetings, and thank you for reading my sincerest thoughts on this Classic album To start things off, I'm an adoring Peabo Bryson fan. Unbiasly, He's one of the greatest male crooners in history, and is company to the elite group of best singers period. Rating scales are 1.0 to 5.0 The opener, "Come on over Tonight" is a stylish and sexy love ballad. It's the sort of song that you love to walk in and hear playing, or otherwise awaken to, know what I mean? The loving feeling of the song never wears away, and its one of the best songs of the ten collective tracks. 4.7 "With...OUT! You". Anyone of relative age and "like" musical tastes, knows this one. The Love Theme from the Bill Cosby Motion Picture "Leonard Pt. 6", as it proudly advertises on the credits. It's also the beautiful duet with Regina Belle, written by Lamont Dozier, a remarkable talent in his own right, who must get his lyrics from GOD. THIS IS THE BEST DUET OF ALL-TIME (including all the gems in the world of country music, Motown, and '70s popular radio thru to the present). "How Many Times Can We Say Goodbye" (Luther Vandross/Dionne Warwick) being runner-up. Heartfelt and ever pretty, "Without You", simply put, is the kind of song you never want to end 5.0 "I Want To Know" is like hot cocoa by the fireplace with the one you love embracing you closely - IT SOUNDS THAT...GOOD! 4.5 "Tonight" is STELLAR ! all-the-way-around ! ..and musically, is a precursor to 1991's "Can You Stop The Rain" 4.5 "When We Need It Bad" is one of the two most-finely written songs on the album along with "Still Water". The Beautifully sang themes and rich use of description will lead you to loveland whether youre in love or not - It's My favorite song on the CD... but thats not why : ) 5.0 "This Time Around" always feels like youre listening for the first time, with a certain distracting beauty - you always know when this song is playing. 4.5 "Crazy Love" is the most soulful song of any the album offers. It has a really nice R&B section in the middle with backup singers that is appealling as anything of its time. Another good one 3.8 "Still Water" - A homage of gratitude to the literally awesome love of Christ onto us. Penned by Bryson himself, making it, for me, that-much-more impressive. My personal second favorite !! 5.0 It positively hurts me to admit that "Positive" and "Hurt" are not great and dont add much to the album as a whole. But I will say that they serve as pleasing recesses from the singular theme of BALLADS throughout the album (extraordinarilly beautiful ones, granted). "Hurt" being a charming tale where peabo takes on the role of a love-scorned beau, riddled with heartache from lies and deception. The music is "by-the-books" contemporary jazz. Nice-sounding, but watered down. and provably forgettable. The real reward here though, is Bryson's Immaculate voice, he sounds like his pipes are walled with gold. I also LUV_LUV_LUVV! the vocal finale 3.9 The track "Positive" is a, now "dated" (then trendy) electro-pop uptempo, where Peabo plays self-help guru and urges us all, convincingly, that if we just loosen up, and have a change of luck, we can win in life. This is a much more memorable number than the former. With its surprizingly infectious three-word chorus, and ever-meaningful lyrics...essentially, this is a really good song! . Too, notably (YES. Just as your "Carlton Banks" dance has hit its full romping swing), he throws away the hook in mid-rhythm and even adlibs and scats through improvisations for the final minute-forty-plus, somehow giving sound advice in the middle of it all and within the pleads, actually guarentees results ! (ARE YOU "POSITIVE" ON THIS, PEABO?? : ) 3.9 Well I'm positive that YOU should buy this album and let it pay for itself over and over again, as it lifts you up every-single-time you decide to play it. I'd like to recommend the "We're The Best Of Friends" LP with Natalie Cole. It's (like this review CD) a Huge part of my musical life and forever will be. I THANK YOU AND DEEPLY CARE FOR YOU PEABO !!! and I thank you again the reader and care for you also. Live and Listen ! Lovingly, R.W.
