There are a myriad of books discussing personality types in all kinds of esoteric ways -- from the Enneagram to Numerology to the Meyer-Briggs typology. All those may be very useful to a professional in the field of psychology or sociology, but for a person who wants simply to get a handle on how to work and play with others, they are far too complex and obscure.

The beauty of "Positive Personality Profiles" is that it is simple and deep. It uses the basic concept of four personality types that has been around for centuries. These personalities are identified by letters (rather than the Greek terms - Sanguine, Choleric, etc.). The author advises that most people are COMBINATIONS of the four types. But generally a person will emphasize one or two primary ways of behaving and being.

If you approach this book with a reasonable balance of skepticism and openness, you may find a lot of value in here. The viewpoint of the author is frankly Christian, and he uses examples from the New Testament to back up his ideas. This may offend some, though it didn't bother me and I'm Jewish. I enjoyed his writing style and anecdotes.

I also appreciate the genuine good will that pervades this book. The author wants to lead us readers down a path of acceptance and understanding. This is not about categorizing and judging people, but about letting them into our hearts.

I couldn't be more excited about a book! Our whole family has read this book including our two children (13 & 11). Everyone has been able to put it into practice at some level. Although this book was referred by a business associate, I have been able to apply this in all aspects of my life. I have referred this book to several people business associates in several areas, fellow church members, teachers... My son even used this book for a school book report. My husband and I make a practice of reading this book AT LEAST once a year! I can not recommend this book enough! No matter what you are going through this book will help! It may not solve the problem - but it will help!

This book not only gives you an understanding about yourself but more importantly understanding others. It also allow you to see how others probably view you. You will have insight in perdicting how a person might react in certain situations and understanding why people react the way they do. A great book!

This book really assists you in REALLY understanding people on the inside, especially one's self. It reminded me a lot of Steven Covey's "7 habits Of Highly Effective People"

Figure out why you just don't understand some people. Figure out why some people come across as jerks (Or why some people think YOU do).

This book helped me rid myself of a judgmental mentality as it pertains to others, and helped me restore some very important relationships in my life. We're all different, right? Well, this book puts it all together and helps a lay person make sense of the human personality.

Another review has complained about the simplistic approach. Well, not all of us are interested in becoming masters at the DISC profile. Some of us just want to understand it enough to get along in life better. This book does just that, and then some.

This book is a MUST-READ for everyone on the planet! I loved reading this book. It was interesting, funny and exciting to be learning so much about what make everyone tick! It was a very easy and fast read!

Great resource for personalities. Great resource for scripture with characters with personalities. Anybody in a field of sociology would be wise to purchase this book.

This is a great book for understanding the basic DISC personality profiles. Dr. Rohm has written this is layman's terms and is an easy read for a beginner, but still insightful for an experienced profiler. He breaks out strengths and weaknesses of each personality type, including how to best communicate with that profile. He even includes strategies for parents and teachers (my favorite part) on dealing with children of each of the personality types.

Read this years ago and just recently wanted to loan it to a friend... but couldn't find it as I think I loaned it to someone awhile ago and they never gave it back. So I purchased again to this time GIVE to a friend as it's an awesome read for anyone!!! Helps you understand your mate better, your kids, friends, associates..... just an all around great read!

This book is very readable in its explanation of the four personality styles recognized by most psychologists.
It helps us to understand ourselves, family members and coworkers better and gives great advice on how to adjust
to the differences in our personality styles. One of the best I have seen in a while.
