New mothers with some advanced aerobics experience and a yen for a challenging workout will enjoy this offering from National Aerobics medalist Aileen Sheron. Sheron loves constant modifications, rarely does the same step twice in a row, and has a penchant for adding variations such as "funky shoulder" and "sassy hip." Her 42-minute workout begins with a warm-up before launching into a series of alternating resistance and cardio sections. The resistance training requires the included exercise band, and the cardio dances require more space than most exercise videos, so stack the furniture to the side. The floor work consists of abdominal exercises and warm-down stretches--much of it done while lying on stomach and back, forbidden pleasures during pregnancy. After a brief advertisement for Similac infant formula, Sheron concludes her 54-minute tape with a Q&A session with a female physical therapist who comes armed with a pelvic floor model. She answers questions about lower-back pain, foot swelling, and post-baby stomach flab. This thorough video should come with a warning: Don't let the impossibly thin Sheron and her two svelte sidekicks be your yardsticks. This video is great for new moms. It has many intensity levels, so you can choose just how far you can go. I lost 20 pounds over 4 months with it. I thought they would be on forever after my second baby. It is upbeat and motivating without being too corny. It is hard to believe how long you have been excercising when it is over. The stretches feel so good, and the workout combines aerobics and weight training in three sections, so you can workout as much or as little as you have time for. I plan on purchasing positive prenatal fitness for my next pregnancy, I enjoyed this one so much.

This video was safe enough to do within a week of having my third c-section. The exercises are modifiable, and so is the intensity. The wide, flat, resistance band included with the video is a little hard to get used to, but is definately effective. It is nice that women who have had c-sections are targeted during some areas of the video.

I only do the cardio portion however. I use Buns and Abs of Steel (Post-Pregnancy) for the floorwork. I really like the exercises even though they took a few times to get the hang of. I love the fact that there is no jumping around but lots of variation in steps to keep it interesting. I began using this video about 1.5 months after delivery and have been using it since (almost 4 months postpartum). It is not too hard and not too easy which was important for me because I didn't want to get discouraged and quit using it. I have always had a hard time being motivated to exercise at home--not with this video. I would like to see other videos by Aileen Sheron.
