4.0 out of 5 stars WILL POWER AND SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY May 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Bello's posit on Will Power's influence on the influence of and keys to optimum performance were enlightening to me as an athletic coach. Will Power has the qualities of quickly capturing the essential elements of Energy Management, Focus & Attention, Imagery, Goal-Setting, Performance-Planning, and Self-Talk and managing the 87-billion neuron battlefield of our brains for affective results in performing the sport. With Will Power in the equation for optimum performance, in golf for example, the outcome for each shot is manifestly significant in the sequencing of the movement patterns of muscles and bones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Straightforward and Practical Advice October 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Spoiler Alert - This review contains snippets from the book, which I believe are important to reinforcing the points of my review.

It's tempting to pass off self-help books as being full of either common-sense advice or modern psycho-babble, and I'm glad to say that this book fits in neither category. I very much like how the author carefully set expectations, provided clear and definitive steps to meet those expectations, and then offered follow-up resources for readers.

The book begins with an interesting quote,

"Waking up each morning excited to start your day and going to sleep each night grateful for every opportunity, regardless of any challenges, is my definition of success"

That single sentence succinctly states what to expect from the subsequent text. The author amplifies the opening quote with a brief section, "Why I Wrote This Book," and then proceeds to offer advice in a roughly three-point plan. First, identify where you are now. Second, come to a full understanding of where you wish to be. Finally, work the plan to achieve those goals, with an understanding of how to knock out bad habits and other obstacles to your success.

The writing style is straightforward and conversational, almost as if you were talking directly with the author. I believe that this style is best suited for such a book.

A few of my favorite chapters were the ones on how to knock out really bad habits, the list of do's and dont's in paving your way to success and the self-check questions after the conclusion. The author also provides several online resources to assist you in the path to a more successful future.

Simple, to the point with no technical mombo jumbo ... just plainly stated factual statements on how to improve one's life as therapy or self help. I have worked in the field of mental health for about eight years and this is the most hopeful rendition of a plan for a better life for anyone, in a hospital or out ... that I have come across

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical Guide to Positive Transformation October 19, 2013
By Kath
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is an easy and practical book to learn or to reinforce positive attitudes. I like the small exercise at the beginning of the book that helps all along the way to think about our goals and behaviors.
How to live life on a happier note? The author is generous in providing tips and suggestions to make our thoughts lighter and our relationships harmonious. Of course it's up to everyone to do the job and I agree with Jonathan Bello's quote `I have learned that everything you want in life is right out of your comfort zone'.
This is a book you can open at any page and read powerful sentences that will make you think about your life in a positive way. I highly recommend this guide.

This is the most practical guide I've come across on the topic of personal transformation ... and I'm sure like most of you reading this review, I've read many books on this subject. The book is comprehensive, well written and very easy to understand. All the essential element that lead to positive change are dealt with in a sensible, logical and no-nonsense way that I found particularly refreshing. So ... if you're just starting out on the path of self development or have already been round the block a few times - this action guide is a excellent read, packed with wisdom and solutions for all of life's little tests along the way.
